2023: the year I get to buy a car1 -
@south_coast Thanks - with any luck I'll pick up some more surveys soon (the German one was quite lucrative, £4, so not far off being able to cash out) I will try the lido again but perhaps in a rash tee and shorts rather than a tankini!Choose kind3

I do Love swimming, but I hate getting my first foot in and feeling the cold, it stops me from enjoying a swim at the beach most times where I tend to just deep my feet and then take a lie down on a towel on the sand! Once you acclimatise it’s not so bad though but most times I can not put myself through the process and therefore miss out on the fun of swimming! Well give me a heated pool anytime!Sounds like you had a great time swimming!XInitial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

I'm with you @Sistergold but once I was there I felt I had to go through with it
It took me about 600m before I could even put my face in the water without gasping with cold! Almost everyone else there looked like OAPs but 10x tougher than me! Next session I've booked (with DD) is indoor but I will brave the lido again at some point!

Not much to report today. A TT of £1.27 takes me just over £4 since payday on 28th. Redid my budget for this month and may have a bit more leeway than I expected (currently projecting £124 left over)
but I won't reallocate it just yet.
Invoice for the first phase of the garden room project received today, £350 under estimate, which is great (I have to keep an eagle eye on the budget as any overspend here will impact on the internal renovation). We had to add a fence at the back of the garden to ward off a massive incursion of brambles and other foliage - we wouldn't be able to keep it trimmed back easily once the room's in plus 2 major stumps that had to be removed to stop roots growing under the base. Luckily we can cover this additional cost and more by some savings in the next phase of work.
Excited to be travelling back tomorrow to Old Town for first haircuts (covered by virtual pot) and to see some friends. I'll pick up a nice bottle of wine from the local wine merchants but otherwise no costs bar the almost inevitable ice-cream (we'll pack up a picnic for lunch - got my favourite Magic Bag from the bakery and it included a massive sourdough for the win!)Choose kind3 -

Hello @Clarity1972 Thanks for stopping by! Yes that is weird
I hope it picks up for you soon
Some of the surveys also seem to have really few spots open so unless you're right there you miss out.
Good to hear from you @Kittenkirst I hope I'm brave enough to go back! How is Oscar doing by the way?Choose kind5 -
Gosh, a weekend away and I'm now waaaay behind on everyone's diaries! I'll do my very best to catch up with you all!
A little bit spendy this weekend - £12 my contribution to posh wine for Saturday night, top up of fuel for trip back to Old Town, plus unscheduled extra picnic (M&S as that was all that was open!) on the Sunday with family friends but so good for DD to reconnect with somone her own age. Being locked down with the olds is all very well but hearing her laugh properly, spontaneously, at whatever silliness they were up to was just the best. We both had our hair cut (£56 total as I 'upgraded' DD to a full cut and blowdry, which she loves). Everything's looking on course on the budgets though so am not going to worry (over on clothes but DD needs her first bras so a bulk order to M&S). TT of £1.24 this morning,
Ouch though - it's two nights after Saturday night (which was fab) and I still have a hangover headache. Is this what the mid-40s do to you?!Choose kind5 -
But how lovely your weekend was! And DD's!Sorry, don't know about hangover headache in the 40s - I'm considerably older, but I had to bash drinking on the head in my late 20s, and when I went back, a single drink was all I could manage. I can see there are probably hidden benefits to that now! Hope it goes soon - lots of water, hey?2023: the year I get to buy a car2
