I actually loaded up LO's pram (sometimes with her in, sometimes left her with her Dad) & managed to do most of a street at one time (depending upon size of street)
I also thought about the route & parked centrally so not too much walking & a few times just moved where the car was parked.
    Good luck

I've put my name down for this, at least it fits in with other commitments whereas there seem to be very few part time jobs available in my area at the moment.

With the price of petrol as it is you'll struggle to make it worth your while IMO

    Hi

I've got an interview for delivering catalogue goods to peoples homes.
Does anyone here do this ?

    Can you tell me if:
    1. its something i can do with lil one in back of car ?
    2. how many items do you deliver per day ?
    3. is it v.time consuming ?

I work for a parcel firm and at one time used to bulk drop the parcels to the couriers. 1. Not recommended to take your lil one with you as thieves have taken cars to steal the parcels and ended up with a free baby on board.

    2. This depends who you get your parcels from but I would say a minimum of 40 a day depending on the area but could be more.

    3. Depends a lot on the area but can be.

Don't forget car wear and tear and insurance come of your profits. You will probably get offered an allowance towards your costs but not a very good one if it is anything like it was a few years ago.

i just had a phone call to offer me some work delivering the yellow pages. so going to be spending next week posting them with my little boy.
we only live in a little village so i have 2 round that all in all come to 500 houses and im getting nearly £60 for it. not to bad really as there isnt much i can do due to being pregnant but with my son and husbands help i dont think this will take to long.
i cant find the link for it that i got of here but wondered if anyone else has got on for this.
is it anygood? i know its not great but everylittle helps in the preperation for bubs and this money will get me some of the bits i need.
back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed

I've delivered Yellow pages for many years, Deya control distribution for many areas but other companies control some areas they usually advertise in the local press. The link below shows Deya distribution and dates.

You usually have to collect all your books on one day and store them at home(difficult if you don't have a garage)I had Yellow pages everywhere one year. In some areas the books are quite heavy so be careful don't overload the car or yourself especially if your pregnant. The pay in 2006 in my area was 13.5p a book with a small petrol allowance about 5 pounds a route(if your area is difficult rural or town centre they will give more but only if you ask)
Good Luck, I hope this helps.
  • I delivered in 2006 too and got paid 15p per book. The OP's rate is about 8.3p per book which seems a bit poor. I would expect this rate for delivering the phone book but not the yellow pages where you are supposed to knock on every door.

Good advice about not overloading your car too, could very easily break an axle!

In my case I broke the back window when collecting ikea catalogues.!!! Also be careful when lifting, I ended up with a hernia.

All in all it was an experience I dont want to repeat.

i dont have to knock he said just post them. unless its the other phone book i did have a two year old screaming at the time. my husband is having an hour of work to help me get my books and unload them here. im quite looking forward to it and having noah help me do it. husband also said not to overdo it as he wont mind delivering them after work. lol a family outing delivering phonebooks now that is moneysaving.
