  • Hi,
If you want a delivery round every day (usually its mon - fri) DHL have a home delivery service that uses people who work from home to deliver parcels in their local area. They have a recruitment line which is 0870 385 0300
  • Thanks for that.

  • I did Thomsons once, it worked out at less than the minimum wage.

I had to drive miles to collect the books and check for myself that I had enough packs and ended up needing a second trip because the car was too heavily loaded.

The delivery 'route' wasn't very well organised, lots of the houses had names rather than numbers and they were listed in alphabetical order so each one had to be looked up to be checked off, and some we never found. Most of the area I was given was rural so needed two of us, one to drive, the other to open gates and try to deliver the books. Dogs were a menace, and lots of places had locked gates and no post boxes.

One section I did on my own and it took me a whole morning to deliver about 50 books, and some of the houses were up narrow lanes that needed a 4x4, not my ancient car.

If you get a housing estate it's easier, because the houses are closer together.
  • My Dad went for this. He needed a MASSIVE amount of space spare just to store all the books, then the wear and tear on his car and the time it would take to deliver made it unworth his while. He called them and asked them to collect the books back, which they did. Never again!
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

    Hi,

Has anyone done this sort of thing? They reckon they pay around £50 - £90 for delivering 600 books (depending on the route).

I'm thinking of giving it a go but just wondered what peoples experiences of this sort of thing were.

    Thanks in advance

I did this with my partner a few years ago and it is not worth it for the money you get to be honest. We had to do a couple of journeys just to pick the books up and the books took up 2 bedroom floors. As mentioned you can only carry a few at a time and if you have a block of flats to do, like we did, it's a nightmare!!

    Dear all,

I've merged two threads on delivering/courier on this board to keep the information together. It would be helpful to keep all the information on this thread.
