Shall I get on my Bike?

Sorry, I don't mean to be smug, I mean to inspire!
I sold my car in '92 ... it was too expensive and too crowded even back then.
I cycle everywhere (walking hurts my back and is too slow)
I invested in a really good bike (Dawes Galaxy) but you don't need to spend that much.
However, buying a cheapo one from somewhere like Arg*s is going to be painful, slow and horrible. Look at a Tr*k, Gi*nt, D*wes or similar.
I cycle every day, 5-8 miles most days, sometimes 16, and a mile takes about 5 mins on average. I am the same weight and dress size I was in 1986; I can park virtually anywhere for free, and can carry all my shopping on my bike.
I don't get wet very often, but I won't ride in icy weather.
Here's my breakdown for essential kit:- flashing LED lights £4 ea. Wilko. Two front, two rear.
- waterproof trousers (never worn) M&M online £10
- w-proof jacket, Aldi £15. Brilliant
- panniers to hold 3 bags of groceries, £25
- puncture proof innertubes £7, Halfords
- leather gloves for winter (warm and protective) £10
- lock £1 (I had a £40 one but it broke)

And I think cycling from a little distance then making the journey longer as you get used to it is a GREAT idea.
Frogga, if you can do it for 3 months, I'll buy myself a bike and start cycling!

Still if you're up for it Clarabel I'll do it too xx And I'm defo going to do it just so Gingham has to!

Ohhh...I am so *not* thin!!!!
Sometimes when I cycle, I think people must laugh at the sight of my chunky !!!! wobbling along, but i don't care! Just sing 'fat bottomed girls' loud and proud as you pedal...It feels great! Oh, and If you're in the mood, follow the theme with ' I want to ride my bicycle!'
We'll check in tomorrow and see how we did then!
PS your weight loss progress is amazing!!! well impressed my love!

bike bike bike frogga! I have never driven and have never needed to. I bike to work in all weathers - you just need waterproofs for the rainy days and good pannier bags - I can get a weekly shop in mine. excellent for the thighs tooI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080

Hey.. if it's good enough for Kermit!!
I can't ride bikes.. they cripple my knees now.. but I used to in the olden days!
My hubby learned to ride a bike at 26 to save bus fares to and from uni.
My ancestors worked from home.. I am inherently lazyLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Come on Frogga, did you or not ?
Mind you, maybe you are too exhausted to turn on the computer :rotfl:You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
..........and my back legs are killing me!:rotfl: and so is my bottom!:rotfl:
I really enjoyed it!! I parked at the 3 mile point and biked in the last 2 miles, it took me 10 mins, I thought that was quite good!
On the way back I had to go up Bishops Hill which is VERY steep and even "proper" cyclists were pushing and walking so I didn't feel too much of a pratt:T
It was a lovely day and the sun was on my back which was very mood lifting:T
I'm doing it again today:T Think of the money I saved and how much that will make in a whole year :T
Why didn't I do this years ago?;)Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D
