Marcus Easy Access Savings Account

  • You seem to be using it as a regular saver. Wouldn't you be better off with, say, a Nationwide 5% regular saver (others are available) with over 3 times the return Marcus is delivering?

    YorkshireBoy,

I’ve got a regular saver with HSBC at 5% too.

Also a branch operated Virgin Money Regular Saver at 3%.

As I mentioned the Marcus account is my emergency fund if I ever needed to lay my hands on it quickly.

If I take money from the HSBC it drops to a 0.05% Flexi Saver (or something like that).

The VM account can be accessed easily but you cannot replace the cash as it’s a maximum pay in of £250 PCM.

The Nationwide terms are much more favourable than HSBC, and Marcus, for your £250 per month saving.

Has anyone had their interest payments from Marcus delayed before, such as when the date it should be paid occurred over the weekend?

I was due my interest on the 19th of Jan (opened account on 19th of Nov, received first interest on the 19th of Dec) but it has still not gone into my account.

Does anyone know if this is typical, or should I get in contact with them?

19th Dec was a weekday, 19th January a Saturday. See if it appears at the end of Monday.

Yes, this is normal. The interest will show in your online account a few minutes before midnight today.

Just opened an account with Marcus and it was a little surprising how little information it required! But reading comments above that seems normal. We’ll see how it goes from here....

There seems to be a problem logging in today you get the message 'something seems to be wrong' I rang and they say they are trying to fix the problem. I am not sure if it is everyone who is having this problem.
