Fair enough. The motherboard is no 760gm p23. I'm assuming it's an entry level board? Read good reviews that the ryzen series cpu are pretty decent. If I find out what socket the cpus are is that how u look at the MB? I'd also be looking at new power supply at the same time?0 -
Perhaps you can take a look at the FX 8300; https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FD8300WMHKBOX-CPU-Desktop-Processor/dp/B00TR8YL4W/ref=sr_1_4
£55
or FX 8310 if you can find one.0 -

I know which Motherboard it is. I posted a link to it in post #11.0 -
The new CPU and RAM(£80 in total) will be a sunk cost.
In other words you won't be able to carry them over to a new gaming rig(though of course you can use them to make a relatively powerful desktop PC)
The SSD you can move to the new gaming rig.
So you can look at the upgrade to 16GB and the eight core FX 8300 as costing £80. £55 for the CPU and £25 for the RAM.
If it improves the performance of the games he wants to play, then it's worth it.
But of course only he and possibly, you, know the games he wants to play.0 -
