Search for second hand for any FX cpu and DDR3 RAM. They are old and not worth buying new.
  • Here too; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=171358.0

They have possibly issued a BIOS update to mitigate the issue, but it won't perform optimally. So perhaps forget about the CPU upgrade suggested earlier.

There are E versions that are 95 watt that are compatible.

    Example: https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/fx-8370e

Agree, if you can find a reliable supplier, as the performance boost isn't that great.
  • Possibly clone it and then uninstall and reinstall the games on the HDD.

Not sure why you suggested this. Not a good idea.

    Because...

I would not clone anything over. Would use the new SSD as the Boot drive and keep the HDD as storage.

Of course Amazon are undercutting eBuyer for the FX 8350 with the Wraith cooler...by £1.

But you can go for the top of the 125 watt range, FX 8370 with Wraith cooler, for around the same price as the FX 8350; https://www.amazon.de/AMD-FD8370FRHKHBX-Processor-Wraith-Kühler/dp/B01798X7D2/ref=pd_sbs_147_2
    Around £92 plus delivery.

Any idea how I can get the website in English or will this give me the price in pounds but be more expensive.

Just looked at a review comparing what's already installed and your suggestion and seems to be a good increase in compatibility. I know the gpu might not be top spec so that will have to wait

Generally with amazon links, you can change the ".de" to ".co.uk" (or .com) and it will be the same product,
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FD8370FRHKHBX-Processor-Wraith-Kühler/dp/B01798X7D2/ref=pd_sbs_147_2

seems a lot pricier to buy on the UK website, £130 the €103 is £91

If you just want to view the German site in English click on the little globe icon near "your account" on the top and select English (translated)
(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)

As I wrote earlier, you do not want this model, as it is the 125 watt version.

You need the model with E after the number.

thanks. on CPUbenchmark, shpws the clock speed of what i have (4300) @ 3.8Ghz and the 8370E @ 3.3Ghz. this mean its slightly slower?it does show Turbo speed upto 4ghz on the 4300 and 4.3ghx on the 8370E.

i also take it its the motherboard (maybe the power supply) thats stopping the 8370 (without the E) as this compares better Ghz?

With the cloning I've seen videos and been told that u can only clone the whole hdd over but I was thinking just using it to boot from.
The time it takes to read the file index catalogue on the disk, then move the head to the correct track, become stable, find the start of track, and start to read, is longer than SSD drives. Windows is built up of loads little files and not having to do all the waiting and searching makes windows boot faster from ssd and load the system files.

there are a few things you want on the fastest disk and they are the system files and swap space. However if you are doing something like image editing and the software uses a temporary file then that file may also benefit if it is placed on the ssd due to lots of changes to a big file and lager date rate. In comparison when you download from the internet, or listen to music, often a usb2 drive will offer more than adequate speed and throughput.

In the earlydays when windows mainly stored things in memory people did put applications on another partition, but even then windows started to put dlls into the c:\windows directory and modify registry which killed the idea of keeping a pure isolated product on another drive.
