As I pointed out earlier on one of the other Marcus threads, it's unlikely to be a coincidence that it's prominently featured in today's weekly MSE email, thereby highlighting its existence to another 12 million people - it won't be the first (or last) time that the spike in activity immediately following one of these emails is enough to cause technical problems or even product suspension or withdrawal.
Just as well the savvy folk on this forum got in there right at the beginning before everyone else waded in
Yes, it was a breeze the other day.:D:cool:Can't sleep, quit counting sheep and talk directly to the shepherd :cool:0 -
Struggling to think how they could argue that employment and/or income data is necessary for opening a savings account, perhaps someone with time and inclination will challenge them on it.
Not a strong or perfect justification by any means, but I've seen KYC/AML cited in far shakier circumstances. And if you don't want to provide them with the information then [STRIKE]it proves you've something to hide[/STRIKE] they aren't obliged to open an account for you."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

It was indeed. And very easy to pay in. Not proving at all easy to get money out again, though, because the website's still down, and has been for several hours.
The words 'Mickey', 'Mouse' and 'outfit' spring readily to mind, whatever the pedigree of the parent company.0 -
I was able to access the site when it was last stated to be 'down' by users here and I've just tried again - no problem.0

A word of caution - if you close your browser after signing in, Marcus doesn't seem to sign you out automatically. Have not tested to see if time activated or whatever, but just wanted to alert readers to be careful.

Marcus is live! - not really apparently...
One of their CS cba to find out why my funds transfer got rejected for the 3rd time yesterday.. or when such error would be corrected.. or even the name of the team who is dealing with the issue.. too much trouble. Unimpressed.
Well credit where due - I got initial transfer attempt accepted this morning, showed up; made a 2nd bigger transfer in, showed up; made a £5 w/d hit linked ac in mins.
Only a shame it was my 5th daily attempt - & shame no notification they'd fixed the problem.. but ooray..! Time to de-clutter the spread sheet.. another Santander 123 fullfat to skimmed lite pro tem maybe..:)
Edit: They called at 18:30.. got take that bit back, too!0 -
I normal put "of independent means" in response to employment questions - though in Marcus's case this field's drop down box did not have the option available so I plumped for "retired" instead.
I used to have a problem over electronic ID checking until I discovered it was of a mismatch between the electoral roll available data of when I moved into the house and my real date of moving into the house - and it is correct that there should be this significant mismatch.
I just now quote the electoral roll data date which matches the CRA's data when asked for my date of moving in rather than the real one and all goes through smoothly.0
