I've just spent the past hour cleaning. We got back from SIL's party and walked into a complete disaster zone. Why is it going out and coming back makes everything look so much worse???
In the past hour I have...

sorted out the MOUNTAIN of dry clothes and hung them up.
Sorted out all the clothes that Ash had taken out of the drawers this morning... (5 drawers.. each of them usually full of clothes.. emptied onto her bedroom floor )
Gathered the dirty washing which is now overflowing the washing basket.
Tidied up and hoovered the living room which was trashed.
Swept the kitchen twice because by the time I'd finished it needed doing again.
Emptied and cleaning the cat's litter tray
cleaned the surfaces and hob
emptied the bin and cleaned the lid
mopped the floor and disinfected the mop
disinfected Ash's dinner table

SERIOUSLY had enough now. I hate cleaning and there's still washing up to do and some to put away which is DH's job but he's passed out on the sofa :mad::mad: so guess who'll be doing THAT TOO.

Not impressed. Not cut out for 'housewife' stuff at all I hate it hate it hate it!

Needless to say my house is usually a tip. This is a combination of..

smallish house
lots of stuff
2 kids under 3
one hubby who works full time
me being expected to look after the kids AND the house on my own.

sorry rant over...

You're allowed to have a messy house with 2 littleuns :D I preferred it when my kids were small - I had an excuse then. :o I have cut down on stuff loads but know I need to do this more. Have filled 2 black bags since rubbish got picked up on Friday (and it was all rubbish too).

I've seen people post pics on here:D

But I've no idea how they do it:o
You need a photobucket account or similar.. when you upload pics to your album it will give you a

I think they use photobucket or something like that. Don't know if I can be bothered. Seems an awful lot of effort.

Remind me why my house is a mess..?

Too quick for me IA :D
• I am not dirty, but untidy. I wash up and do the bins everyday, I find laundry takes the most time (even though I dont iron). I just have crap round the house, papers to file, clothes in piles, etc.
We are halfway through getting room decorated, so loosing any little enthusiasm I had. I would like to be a bit cleaner than I am, I do tidy a bit when I know people are coming, but its a home not a house. I have a baby and 2 cats, so does get messed up quickly.
Pre DFW, I used to pay my cousin £15 once a week to clean all the general stuff, but thankfully this stopped when we both got pregnant!
I stay on MSE to avoid jobs, procrastination!
I sometimes reward myself by coming on here, usually do limit to an hour, have def noticed a setback in finances when I dont come on, so dont cold turkey!!!

My house is comfortable chaotic. It's not dirty, just messy enough that everyone who visits 'feels at home' :D

Personally, I think tidiness (not dirtiness) is overrated. Me and my OH are the only people who have to live here, so I don't really care what other people think of me.

Well, I have a shameful confession to make....

I employed a cleaner!

I started with this about 4 weeks ago. It costs me 20 quid a week for her to come clean and do all our ironing. We're almost always tidy, because we have very little stuff. But I'm just not cut out for housewifely cleaning duties.

This all came to a head when both myself and hubby started new jobs the same week. Now we're out of the house from 7.30am until just after 6pm. We end up with one day off together, and another day off each separately. On his day off alone he moonlights with job no.2 (which he also does in the evenings), with my day off alone I do the washing, batch cook, do the shopping and the other bits the cleaner doesn't. Given that we mostly cook from scratch, it became a choice - either we get some ready meals or we get a cleaner. Moneywise the cleaner was the better choice.

My house is far from tidy.

Have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and me and OH work full time and i'm studying too so thats my excuse.

I like to think of it as organised chaos!

Which reminds me I really should think about ironing dd's school uniform .....

Don't worry about me going cold turkey. I am more likely to develop an addiction to housework than be able to stop myself coming on here at all :rotfl:

I always have papers to file and piles of washing. We have terrible flat surface syndrome in this house. Can't see one without putting something on it.

You've just used the word that I think sums up my problems... Procrastination!

Think I just need a good kicking and shaming into it. I'm seriously starting to think about inviting people round more. I usually have a panic tidy up session if I know someone's coming so instead of deliberately not inviting anyone, I should get everyone round! Not very DFW though if I have to feed them... :rotfl:
