Does anyone on here have a tidy house..?

This is aimed at people who are on DFW loads. :o

I'm a constant lurker and occasional poster. I know my kids are starting to think I'm strange (well, stranger than normal) because I'm on the computer continually.

I banned myself from the computer all day today (till about an hour ago) and most of yesterday because my house was such a tip. I have all good intentions and even write lists (I LOVE lists  ) of jobs that need doing. Then I switch the computer on and that's the end of it.

On the plus side, my finances have never been in a better state. Thanks to you guys I have made lots on Quidco, had my first Pigsback voucher and picked up loads of ideas re budgeting and I think the main benefit, a much better attitude to money. :j

But my house is a !!!! pit! Well, it was. It's now half way there. I've not felt well for the last few days and I think I got run down because I go to bed so late because I'm on here! Also, I feel crap when the house is untidy.

So...

I am going to limit my time on here. I haven't worked out by how much yet. I'm not going to go cold turkey because that's just silly (and impossible). Any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe an hour a night? But will that be enough time to read the diaries? I regularly read Hypno's, IA's, PAP's, BenBen's, MOT's and others I can't remember off the top of my head.

I also look at the OS board but spend most of my time lurking on here.

But I'm waffling, back to my original question. If you're on this board a lot, is your house tidy and if so, how the hell do you manage it? Spill! :rotfl:

I would go crazy if my house were a mess.

I honestly could not sit down & relax in a living room that was a mess.

Neither could I sleep comfortably in a bedroom that was a mess.

& if the bathroom isn't immaculate I feel sick.

EDIT, how do I manage it.
    No kids.
Nobody dares leave anything out of place (all very houseproud).
All pitch in now I am working.
    Don't hoard.
    Don't collect.
A place for everthing & everything in it.
If you take it out, put it back.
If you use it, clean it.

Easier to keep a newly decorated house looking clean I think, we ripped EVERY bit of this house apart from Jan 06 to Aug 07, so its all new. New kitchen & bathroom as well, does make it easier.

Ok, I am on here loads, I have tried flylady but can't do it. I have a house that is an absolute pigsty. I am ashamed for anyone to come round.

On the otherhand I have reduced my debt by £10,000 this year and have made some real friends.....so that's not bad!

If only I could get the balance right!

My house is pretty tidy, my tip... ebay the contents :) much less to clean that way. Seriously though, it's easy for me at the moment because I'm not working so I find running around for 1 hour a day covers pretty much the bulk of the cleaning. I don't iron stuff unless it's life or death, in fact my theory on it all is... bathroom kitchen and loos need to be ultra clean, the rest I like tidy, the office is a tip.

Well mine's not too bad - but I know I spend way too much time online! As hypno says, if only we could get the balance right! :rotfl:
I do have days where I blitz the place - but I always feel it could be better.
Anyway, if I got run over tomorrow, I'd rather be remembered as someone who had time for other people, online and in the 'real world', than someone who had an immaculate house! And it's clean, just not that tidy!

Mine is a home, not a house.

I dont worry about it being immaculate - if folk dont like it, they can beggar off home cant they :rotfl:

Hypno - I already knew your answer :p as I read your diary! Kindred spirit! You're an inspiration though. You have so much drive and energy. I've tried flylady too but spent too much time reading and not enough time doing. Story of my life...

Ah, Kim - just seen your edit - feel a bit better now! 2 kids, 1 dog, 2 cats and a house that needs quite a bit doing to it so never looks amazing when tidy. It's rarely really filthy but do feel embarrassed if anyone comes round. :o

Toto - I think running round for a short time would keep on top of it if I could get to that point. Saying that, I do sometimes but seem unable to keep it up. Haven't got a huge amount to ebay but have sorted some stuff out for DD2 to do over the next couple of months. Don't iron except for a few work things. Creases fall out by the time I'm at work and if they don't, I blame them on the car journey!

Sagaris - Too right but I wish I could achieve a balance between having time for people and being a lazy !!!! :o

    LOL at spud and beanielou

  • Ditto Spud,

Mine is our home, it's always clean but not always tidy, when my son is awake his toys are everywhere, if I spent all my time making sure the house was tidy I would stress myself out, so when he goes to bed I spend 10 minutes putting his toys in the basket at the side of the couch.

I spend an hour or so during the day doing my clothes washing, dish washing and anything else that really needs doing.

I normally try to do a whole house tidy and clean at the weekend but now that I'm 8 months pregnant it's usually just a room here and there.

I wish I had more motivation to do housework but I'm using my pregnancy as an excuse to come online.:o

hey, well as I'm at uni - my room is really tidy. I think I'm a bit obsessive really - my books are in alphabetical order, as are my dvds and cds. My wardrobe is organised by colour. My room is SO tidy and I know where everything is - I hate not being able to find something. BUT, it is only a room, so its not too big I guess. x

I hate it when stuff is out of place. Trouble is I'm usually so tired after work I can't be bothered,so I spend all weekend sorting it out. As long as its clean I can cope!
