my place is clean but untidy and i hate it. Tried flylady but th emails did my head in! the mess drives me crazy but i really need to declutter, the trouble is i cleared over 5 sacks of stuff out this summer and there's still nowwhere to put some stuff. I've got lots of filing to do as well but need to shred some stuff to make room for the new stuff. It's endless isn't it?
At least i have motivation, my future MIL is visiting on the 23rd for the weekend for the first time so must be spotless by then!

Have to agree i do spend a LOT of time on here, but it seems like i must or i don't watch what i'm spending and it all goes down the pan. I'm sure one iday i'll reach a happy medium

I only get the flylady digest - and go on the actual site to see where I'm up to etc. So I only get one email a day (sometimes 2) rather than continual ones. It has made it easier and now I love them (Iknow I am completely brainwashed but hey, I'm brainwashed by this whole site too :D)

I had a quick look at Flylady but didn't really delve into the site. Is it worth looking in to as I really need some control in my house lol??

    Hi Lemon Tree

Paperwork's a nightmare for me too. I bought a cheap concertina thingy recently and sorted all my paperwork into that and took loads into work to shred. I also spent £18 on a plastic drawer unit from £stretcher on Saturday which meant I could get rid of the desk in my hall (clutter central) and it's all tucked away under the stairs.

My ex MIL didn't visit very often but the house certainly got the once over if she was going to show her face! Kinda miss her but only for that reason :o :rotfl:

I have decided I'm going to allow myself a read on here then I have to go and spend 5-10 mins tidying up. Which I suppose is a bit of a flylady (happy Sea?:D ) thing but maybe it will work. I just went off and did the dishwasher but I felt like I was missing something the whole time I was doing it. Then DD1 had nicked the computer and I got all stroppy. How addicted (and nuts) am I?!!!

Doodledo - try flylady, it seems to work really well for some people. I think of it as being told what to do and it did work until I started to rebel...

I would really recommend it! Do take babysteps (all explained lol) as otherwise it all seems far too much. And do sign up for the emails - but only on digest otherwise you have them coming up at all random times. I am also subscribed to the UKflylady emails, but you don't get many of them.

I am completely converted and it's really helped me - to declutter (I couldn't let go of a lot of things!), to be more organised and try to be more house proud. Some days I do nothing, but hey, a little is better than nothing! :)

And yes, Superpup - very happy!

I've been marking tonight in 15 min slots - then back to the computer for 15 etc. Then I finished marking, came on here for 15 mins and then decided I'd do 15 mins tidying - cleared the kitchen, did washing up, unloaded and reloaded washing machine, did tiny bit of ironing AND shined the sink - phew ! IN 15 mins as I didn't want to miss too much on here. :D

Hmmm... I was pleased with my dishwasher unload and reload. Now I feel like a lazy cow again...

Am going to do 10 minutes in the kitchen now.

    LOL @ Sea

    Ahem...

I have spent just over 15 minutes tidying/cleaning my kitchen and folding up dry stuff on airer and putting another wet load on it. Didn't completely declutter kitchen as couldn't be @rsed, but babysteps and all that! :rotfl:

I reckon this system could work for me you know...

I have to say flylady has totally changed my life. Used have a horrendously messy house - have 5 kids so used that excuse but was just so disorganised!! the only thing I could keep up with was the washing and that was often all over the house waiting to be folded/ironed/put away. When the kids were littler they often had grown out of things by the time i got to the bottom of the ironing!!! Now I only iron for me OH and youngest DS (he's 9) Others have to do their own (or not! they usually wear their stuff creased but their choice) and that includes school uniform.
I usually delete most flylady emails without reading but try to add the new monthly habit and do the daily task plus have my morning routine (do get up at 6am now instead of falling out of bed at 8 when all the kids were already up!! and then get stressed trying to get out on time!
I was embarrassed to have anyone visit but now am much better but not completely cured. I can usually find the dining table at tea time now lol.
Flylady and Martin are defo my gurus!
