Is it worth to send CEO another email about the store visit today as still haven't replied to the first one I did sent ?
Should I wait till get a reply to the first mail and then send the latest update?
    You missed post #24 then?

Glad you did it but I suggested strongly, what else to tell him about ANPR.

You missed a trick if you didn't tell Sainsburys what the actual flaw/issue us, and that you will complain to the ICO for data misuse.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I did received reply from Horizon Parking about my appeal. They said they can't accept it as I didn't send the car reg and only the PCN number.
I have re-send it today with car reg.
Still no reply from Sainsbury's CEO for my 2 emails.

Another point to bring to the attention of the CEO
of sainsbury's ....... THE PCN of course must show the VRN
or it would not be valid

Mr Coupe must explain what sort of scam is he allowing
    Horizon to run here

    Sainsbury's will reply

It is an online complaint in the registered keeper's own words about the ANPR flaw, with evidence attached.

Tell the ICO that your compliant is about Horizon and ANPR failure, using negligent and excessive use of ANPR. Tell the ICO that their principal, Sainsburys, have refused to act about the data misuse/negligent use of ANPR, by their parking agent.

Show evidence to the ICO that this was a double visit clocked as a single event, just like the thousands of similar cases reported online every year!

Point out that a 'double visit' error is a known (common) fault of ANPR. It is a known system failure, as mentioned in this official BPA article all about the flaw:

    https://www.britishparking.co.uk/ANPR
As with all new technology, there are issues associated with its use:
    a) Repeat users of a car park inside a 24 hour period sometimes find that their first entry is paired with their last exit, resulting in an ‘overstay’. Operators are becoming aware of this and should now be checking all ANPR transactions to ensure that this does not occur.

    b) Some ‘drive in/drive out’ motorists that have activated the system receive a charge certificate even though they have not parked or taken a ticket.

Tell the ICO Investigator to ask their Mr Owens about this ongoing flaw!

    http://parking-prankster.blogspot.com/2015/10/parkingeye-subject-to-data-protection.html
Alexander John Owens LLB is an ex-senior investigating officer with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office),

Tell the ICO that it is a national scandal that private parking firms are not bothering to manually check their automated ANPR 'decisions' to eliminate the possibility of people returning to a Supermarket, even though they know full well that this happens far too often, and that ANPR is not fit for purpose in the hands of such despicable companies, as exposed time and again:

    http://notomob.co.uk/discussions/index.php?topic=5768.120

Finalise the compliant by bringing it back to the personal data that has been mishandled this time.

The ICO complaint MUST be put in by the named 'data subject' registered keeper (recipient of the 'PCN' of course) not a third party.

Make the complaint about Horizon (not Sainsburys). You can't name two firms, so go for the rogue parking firm.

  • This is the latest update.
Still no contact from Horizon Parking since I did re-send the appeal with car reg yasterday.

As I didn't got a reply from CEO for the 2 e-mails I did e-mail the customer service last night with full story.
This morning I received a call from gentlemen who identified him self as one of the executive manager from Sainsburys and calling regarding my email. Don't know from CEO or customer services as I was busy at that time and forgot to ask.
First he appologised for the Alperton stores unhelpful staff who I did spoken to and the managers unhelpfulness and ignorant attitude towords me. Then he said he have called the Horizon Parking today to cancelled my PCN and do not worry about it any more. Seems to be they do know about this ANPR scam as he said if its happend again or if the Horizon Parking send any more letters demanding money, contact him directly and he will sort it out for me.
Further more he said he will send me £25 worth voucher by post.
Still nothing in written received. Only via a call.
    I'll update again soon.
Big 'thank you' for all of your kind advices I have received so far.

Good news. You must get this in writing by letter or email

Sainsbury's really need to give Horizon the boot before
they lose business they can ill afford to lose

Makes Tesco's look like real scammers who support
    their parking vermin

    Well done

    Brilliant!

Please do still lodge an ICO complaint about the misuse of your data, because even though Sainsburys want to cancel it, the misuse still occurred and complaints to the ICO might have some effect in reining in these firms in the end.
