    Morning All

I don't really have time to be here but I feel I must pop in to keep us on track.

Today the children are starting a new sports training group, we will have an hour from when that finishes to get home, eat lunch and hopefully some chores until we are out again to a separate lot of training in a different town. Both lots of training will need parking to be paid :( The first lot I don't think there are no options on where to park. The 2nd lot I can park in the local shop's carpark as long as I am a customer, this is no problem, I will select a couple of things from the shopping list and buy them there. The things I select will be either cheaper, at the same price or things my main shop doesn't sell. So in effect, the parking is free. I am going to have a look around the first location to see if I can find a suitable alternative.

    Today's list:
    PAD Done
    B/L/D from stores Done
    Stick to meal plan Done
    RM survey Done
Only buy what is on the list Done
Turn off lights and appliances when not in use Done
Use soup in use up box Done
    Home educate children Done
Swish & swipe I plan to do this just before we go to bed
Take drinks & snacks with us Done
    Hopefully, more will occur...

Bought ds a pair of shoes using vouchers from RM surveys, free shoes :money:
Manage to find free parking for the first set of training today
    Set dw to run overnight
Set wm to run overnight and hope we can dry it outside when the weather is behaving
Requested a library book for me, for free
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

    Morning all :)
Baby GS is asleep, so managed to achieve a couple of things :D
Roasted a big bowl of HG tomatoes and put through the mouli to make a sauce. 2 pots of sauce now in freezer (must update list). I find this a good way of concentrating down large quantities of tomatoes! And it is nice with pasta in the dark, cold days of winter when fresh tomatoes are a distant memory (except for tasteless bought ones :()
OH and I managed to peel and cut up a large slow cooker full of quinces. Currently poaching with sugar and a little lemon juice. There are about 6 left to do, but the SC was full so we stopped. I will need to find freezer space for these somehow
Washed out and pegged on line 6 freezer bags that I liberated last night when I redid the freezer inventory (by putting small quantities together in one bag). I don't do this with bags that have been used for meat or anything greasy, but if only fruit or veg why not?

I can hear GS, so peace is now shattered, and won't resume till around 5.30pm, with double trouble after 3.15 when we need to pick up GD!
  • I'm a bit peeved this morning. Essentially a very rash promise was made by a family member and it was always likely that it wouldn't be fulfilled. They have now said that OH and I will need to fulfil it. I get very cross about being put into situations where I can't say no. I am practising what I am going to say to them on Thursday.

I'm not surprised you're a bit peeved! I would be mightily peeved indeed! Hope all goes well tomorrow x

In merida-world it's the end of my pay month and I have an announcement to make... drum roll please... I have made an extra payment to the CC! :money: A grand total of £4.80 :rotfl: Oh well, every little helps I suppose and not too bad given the car drama. Thank goodness for the moneysaving mudguard solution, or I'd have been over budget this month.

    Today's activities:
    - biking to work etc etc
    - leftovers lunch at home. Didn't eat the chilli last night in the end (late gym class, had a pile of toast before and protein shake smoothie thing afterwards) so that'll be tonight's supper.
    - Parcel to be sent plus birthday card - if I send today I can use up one of the 2nd class stamps from last Christmas :rotfl:
    - booked supermarket delivery for silly time tomorrow evening to get free delivery
    - MUST SORT EXAM BOOKING. Discovered yesterday they've gone up by £6 per exam since July! Not pleased with that particular development at all.

  • Congrats on the extra card payment Merida! I was making a payment a day to mine when I was clearing it. A few pence here and there, but it gave me that feeling of moving towards being debt free so I found it a big boost.

    Hi folks,

I want to run an idea past you. Our house helpfully has lovely air bricks built into the walls in several places. Great for letting in nice cold draughts.

Now I can't fill them (not our house) and I suspect that the ventilation may be a good thing?

Do you think it's worth me making some fabric covers for them? I thought if I made them elasticated like a shower cap, they might sit over the vent covers and lessen the draught. (might also stop spiders?)

    Any other ideas?

Merida any extra payment is worthwhile - I used to send pennies to my card debts, and then once they were paid, to my mortgage, once I found out how to do so online :o:rotfl: Bet they wished I hadn't found out :rotfl:

CLF - I would have been annoyed too, but equally unwilling to let a child down :( Airbricks are there to aerate the building, thus preventing damp. Can't see a problem with fabric covers, but if you start to see any damp, remove them!!

Bleurrgh, GS slept for about an hour and that was it, all day  Seriously, there is a reason why 60+ women don't have babies!! Still, I kept him happy, fed GD when OH picked her up from school, and remained sane :A Starting to recover now - excellent idea to have leftovers in the fridge for dinner though!

  • OH still hasn't realised that food doesn't magically appear. In fact his recent habit is to just turn round to me and ask "what's for tea?". I pointed out that this enrages me as what I hear is "although we are both adults and you are at work all day, I have decided not to take any responsibility for what we eat and I expect you to". My answer is often "well if you don't know, why should I?".

this is such a gear grinder for me! and no different in our house - I took responsibility for grocery shopping & cooking as 1. I'm a better cook & 2. I'm more focused on being frugal in this regard.

However it isn't a shock to me I'm going to need to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner each day - insightful right??! - In the mornings I think about what we'll eat at night and get something out of the freezer. But my oh is taken by surprise each and every day

I try not to let it get to me too much. There's lots of stuff he's better at than me and (shock to you all I know) I'm not perfect and he puts up with all my kooky ways....
