Hope the waters subside quickly.
FIL has spent the entire 65 years of his life controlling everyone around him. So I can understand it's a big shock to the system, but when he's coming up with conditions that, if met, will make him perfect (I know bananas are healthy, as well as tasting nice - but eating one a day and not eating anything else because you can't shop, can't cook and can't chuck the skins out because you can't walk down six flights of stairs to the bin stores, is not going to repair permanent damage to his brain, anymore than his thinking that from the power of his mind alone, he will regain the feeling in his foot or that this is nothing to do with the repeated times he's been 'ill' but not sought treatment - he might have been having TIAs for years), and is pulling out all the stops to get people to enable him to make choices that he is fully aware will lead to further admission and even death, albeit only for lesser mortals than he - well, he's a bloody idiot and a fool who was trying to chuck everything that had been done for him back in everyone's faces, just so he could smile and say 'I'm in charge/I won'.
Hopefully, it's a glitch and he'll get over himself in the coming days, but I'm not spending my wages on keeping Himself down there for him to have his value, intelligence and caring nature be dismissed.
Grrrrr!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Oh no Dizzy, that is all you need, I am sure you have but get your flood defences up, and make sure they stay up, you are only now just straight after the last one.
My fingers are well and truly crossed for you xx
Water levels have peaked, rain has stopped up in the mountains and I have glorious sunshine, if rather strong, gusting wind. Fields across the road are flooded, but I think we're safe, for now. It's my birthday tomorrow and I'd rather not spend it bailing out water
Lots of ironing done, but can't hoover as one of my dogs has very kindly chewed the connection bit off the vacuum (my money is on the puppy). New Henry on order, so resorted to my soft broom to sweep up the worst.
Small has a sleepover at a friend's house tonight, so it's just me and Tiny until DH gets home. We are tidying and sorting the toy boxes. So many unused things that are just cluttering up the place.
And I've got the most gorgeous Springer pup staying with me after the weekend to look forward to :T
Hugs to all in need. I'll admit, I've skim read the thread this week. :eek:0 -
LW, I am happy to chop up veg for you and deliver it, do you have a freezer, I can do extra, you freeze then use what you need when you need it, just let me know what veg you want, I can drop it on your door step.
I chop and freeze, onions, carrots, peppers, swede etc. Make it so much easer and saves having veg going soft and off.Lots of coping vibes and hugs to you, LW. I also chop up onions and peppers when I have a stack and stick them in the freezer. It's much easier then to grab a handful when you really can't be chopping. Are there any doggy visitors on the horizon to brighten your days? X
If I had enough space (or a garage), I'd have a second freezer for just this purpose, and have Mr Wolf do a "job lot" of chopping when we got in from the F&V market.
The only reason it all went belly-up this week was he got told to go to the dentist Monday morning instead of Tuesday afternoon, at only three hours' notice; and I'd already committed to making the Shepherd Spy. If he'd consulted me before agreeing, I'd have suggested he put off the appointment (only a check-up, after all) til the dentist was back from his holiday.
Unfortunately, I don't cope well with plans being changed with little or no notice, and without even consulting me, so I was decidedly miffed about the whole thing.
Never mind; we're back on a reasonably even keel today; and I have the lovely Bluebell Staffie here for company. She's a real sweetie.
Really, I need to get back to meal-planning a good week in advance, which has rather gone by the board since Mr Wolf retired, then I could at least get stuff cut for me a day or so in advance and it's be fine in the fridge. As it is, I don't actually know what we're having tonight - we seem to have slipped into Mr Wolf telling me what he wants and me making it, rather than me planning a menu for a week and him eating what's put in front of him, which is what used to happen.
Dizzy everything crossed that you get no more rain; also, how is your poorly dog faring? Enjoy the Springer pup; I have a 1-year-old Springer coming in on Tuesday for a week.
OK - executive decision.... my next task (ie as soon as I've posted this) is to do a meal plan for the rest of this month. So there!
That's good going for me, as I seem to have lost the ability to make decisions - even what to put on in the mornings; I just take whatever Mr Wolf hauls out of the wardrobe for me. :cool:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Having learned to mealplan from this site, I'm a huge fan Lamewolf. When I remember to do stocktake the freezer I draw up a month's mealplan and stick it on the side of the fridge. It really doesn't matter if we don't stick to it because one of us buys something scrumptious - it's there when inspiration and shopping fails happen, which they do, rather a lot at the moment.
Hope the flood passes straight by and doesn't happen, Dizzy. Happy birthday for tomorrow.
Sounds about normal behaviour for someone who needs a carer, Jojo. It's useful if someone has the courage to remind the patient that the world does not turn around them, but generally those that behave like your FiL are the ones who've spent a lifetime making sure everyone think it does.
Lovely, lovely OH did a load of washing and pegged it out to get blown about while I was out. I've cleaned the bathroom and done a bit of campaigning; rather a lot actually and I'm now cream-crackered. House is looking as though I don't really love it; it'll have to wait until I've cleared a bit of a backlog of urgent stuff again.Better is good enough.0 -
Hello, I’m around.
I have changed 2 beds, dusted tv stand, washed all the towels, changed a large dehumidifiers, packed bags, sent DS2 on a trip (his 3rd night away from us ever), collected him, unpacked and returned everything to their places. Took dancegran to the hairdressers, took dancepops to a falls exercise class, and ran errands for them. Dali lies done too.
Hope everyone is ok.0 -
I've stuffed my face on Chinese takeaway, as I was feeling woozy again today,
Now I just feel sick.
Idiot.
Going to have an early night and then hopefully get cracking with the housework in the morning.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Hi all
I have worked 45 hours this week - that kind of sums up what has been going on with me. I have managed to do a little flying and I have kept on top of laundry. Will check in properly over the weekend x0 -
what a week...but next week i am being two other people as well as myself. I will be out all week.
I have scrounged (offered to take) a bookcase; this will temporarily live in my lounge and i am planning on unboxing the books I boxed up when i got rid of the shelves...finally.

Happy Birthday Dizzy :bdaycake:
Morning everyone :hello:
I've caught up with the thread trying to inhale inspiration and motivation along the way. Since having vertigo last month I seem to have lurched from one ailment to another whilst working fulltime. Nothing serious - well, I don't think so - I go back to the doctor's on Thursday to get blood test results. He might not be happy as I've stopped taking the pills he gave me for ailment number 2 as it gave me ailment number 4 - and that meant time off work! Most annoying after I'd soldiered on through everything else
The only flying I've done is keeping on top of the laundry so we had clean clothes for work! I'm still not right - cold has gone on to my chest (could do with that bottle brush to clear my 'pipes'!) but I need to do something as this place is getting me down.... again
So, inspiration inhaled I'm going to ...... make another brew and eat some toast
Then I'll get dressed and be back with my sleeves rolled up ready to get back on the wagon (3 wheels on my wagon, but I'm still rolling along .... anyone old enough to remember that song)
Yep - I've totally lost the plot - but with your help I'm confident I'll find it again. (It's probably hiding in the ROD(s) with my mojo)
Hugs to all
