Dizzy glad dog on the mend, what changes are you going to have to make to your house so it does not happen again, especially as you have doggy guests, it all sounds so scarey to me.

Get the builders to put opened, half-used sacks in the garage  I'm so angry with them for being slap-dash.

Kitchen is back to normal. I've got a basket of things to sort, but have my friend's children after school, so had to put that aside to make a cottage pie. I shall now whizz up that well-known culinary "delight" in pink flavour. To ensure they do actually get some fruit in their tums, I'll be adding raspberries from a late fruiting bush.

I've also got to master making flapjacks...this time, I've ended up with two bowls of (very tasty) granola. Last time, they were roof tiles and the time before that house bricks....sigh...surely they can't be so difficult to make?
  • Dizzy, I can't make flapjacks either, but a batch of cupcakes no problem.

More washing has been done, dried, ironed and put away and machine is still on!

Downstairs loo and cloakroom has been thoroughly cleaned, including washing down all the tiles, loo and floor. It now looks and smells nice.

Dinner for this evening has been made, just need to instruct OH to put new potatoes on to boil and carrots (might peel & chop carrots before I go out)

Going to have a bit of a browse on the computer with a large glass of water

Ye gods and little fishes!! Is there any way you can claim against the building firm for a) eye-watering vet bill b) distress caused to poor dog c) mental distress to yourself, thinking you might lose your beloved dog? Surely there must be some sort of elf'n'safety rule?

I sat here and actually cried, thinking of the distress and discomfort that poor dog was going through.

I'll keep healing vibes coming til he's better, that I do promise you.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

We've had a special visitor today. The drummer from Faithless. I was one of the few who knew who they were. *all cool me*

So glad the dog's on the mend, Dizzy. Sodding builders .... Our plumbers have spent the whole day righting the wrongs they committed last week, and starting on the loo that needed a fix. I was out, so OH dealt with it all. Good.

    Busy day:
    - delivered a bundle of leaflets to someone to distribute
    - took Kelpie to hydrotherapy after a two week break
    - rang the vet to increase his pain relief
    - collected new keys, new cat basket straps and bones
    - photocopied OH's Powers of Attorney (now all I've got to get him to do is sign 154 pages, ho ho ho)
    - picked up 1,000 more leaflets from the local co-ordinator
    - dropped Kelpie home, fed him, dumped the shopping and raced back out again
    - ate half a packet of chocolate ginger biscuits for lunch on the run
    - delivered 303 leaflets
    - got bitten by a dog, which happens fairly frequently to leafletters but never to me before. Had a word with the owners and have decided not to report the dog because it's a lovely, lovely collie (my favourite, but totally unsuitable pet for them but there you go) and they were mortified by the wounds, let me wash my hand and bandaged me up
    - quick trip to a pharmacy to check how to manage the wound, came home and doused it with TCP
    - at the other half of the packet of biscuits (minus one for OH) for tea
    - dosed Kelpie up with the increased amount of painkiller and he's snoring very happily, which makes a change from his behaviour over the past 10 days.

I'm about to listen to the Archers and will then:
    - cook a very simple supper
    - trim and freeze Kelpie's bones
    - freeze his medicine chicken and beef slices.
    - Stop.
    Better is good enough.

Dizzy, bluddy builders, I thought they had done the walls and the dog had been round licking the walls, I had vision (incorrectly) of you having to ban the doggies from the house............
I suggest you charge the builders the vets bills, they should have public liability ins.

Been sorting out the garage yet again.

I too thought he'd licked the walls. Another vote for bill the builders...

    *can make flapjacks but doesn't*

Been to work. Got the feeling a brown smelly sticky thing is heading towards a rotating thing.

  • Brief message from Himself just before I left for Choir Practice - his Dad is, subject to a home inspection and Occupational Therapy approval, being discharged to his Auntie's (FIL's sister) home this weekend.

Still doesn't necessarily mean Himself is coming back permanently any time soon, as she won't necessarily be able to care for him/get him to behave himself for any length of time (he's already talking about moving back to his crappy and totally unsuitable flat and 'getting back to normal' - um, no, living in a tiny, overpriced flat on the millionth floor with no bed, no cooking facilities and an unreliable lift is NOT normal) and he could well need taking to various appointments and encouraging to keep doing the things he needs to do to not have a repeat visit to the hospital.

But he's made massive progress and improvement in the time he's been there and, quite frankly, there are probably people in the Acute Stroke Ward/Main Hospital that need the Rehab Bed more.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
