  • STS for me this week, thanks
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

greentiger - I use the recipe for red cabbage with apple from the SW website. I've just turned mine of so not sure it will be cool enough to put in the fridge before bed! It looks OK but seems a bit bland, don't think I did anything different but perhaps needs a bit more seasoning when it's used.

There's so few syns in it I tend not to syn it.

I adapt Delia's recipe. I'll post the link tomorrow but it's the one with apple and onion . I just substitute some sweetener for the sugar and leave out the butter although do occasionally add some spread . We only have a small portion each time as it's spicy so would overpower other veg. I always count it as syn free too as it makes lots of portions for the amount of syns in a bit of cooked apple and some sweetener.

That's a great saying. Something we should all take on board.

Might have to try that next time. This lot hasn't even cooked properly as some of the cabbage is still hard. Have put it on again with some extra seasoning and sweetener. Will have a look at it again in another hour, if it's not cooked properly by then I don't think it's ever going to!

    Today's plan:

B - SW fry up - cooked by DH
L - Spicy carrot and lentil soup, slice bread (0.5 HEB)
D - Roasted gammon joint with a honey and mustard crust, roast potatoes, carrots, red onion & pepper, red cabbage (if it's OK), green beans

    HEA - milk
HEB - bread (0.5); 2 crispbread with HM hummous, cucumber for supper if needed
Syns - honey, hummous (I used tahini this time so 2 syns per Tbs)

Sorry to hear your red cabbage didn't work out denise, hope you've rescued it. This is the recipe I use.
    https://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/collections/life-in-the-freezer/traditional-braised-red-cabbage-with-apples

I generally use eating apples and sometimes red onions or a mix, depends what I have in. I've got 2 portions for tonight and 12 more gone in the freezer this morning so I'm pleased with that. I cook mine in the oven but when I was looking for the link I found this:
    https://www.confusedjulia.com/2015/03/slow-cooker-braised-red-cabbage-and-apple.html

The ingredients are almost identical but it's in the slow cooker which you might prefer.

    Back soon.:)

My Aldi had the Sweet Freedom choc shot (and another flavour - spiced orange??) yesterday.

Thanks for the link to the braised cabbage recipe Maman - I love it and we always have it with Xmas dinner but I'd like it more often.

Well we had an (almost) syn free feast yesterday - Pinch of Noms syn free onion bhajis with mint yogurt and salad, then cauli potato and spinach curry with rice, fresh baked figs with more yogurt for dessert, and I went and ruined it by having half a naan! I can't believe the syns in them. I'll make my own flatbreads in future which are considerably lower, not the same but a passable alternative.

    Have a good day, all.

Hope you're feeling a bit brighter today tie. I'm sure you have it in hand but please make sure you get any help you can.:A

I'm going to do some baked sweet potatoes today while the oven's on. We really enjoyed them with chilli, probably have them tomorrow.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB Weetabix, half banana, HEA milk
L: veggie omelette with beetroot and ham
D: JO roast pork, SW roast potatoes and BNS, red cabbage, broccoli, cauli, swede & carrot mash
Syns: 4 for HM gravy, weekend wine:)

Sounds like a delicious menu esmy. I love the sound of the baked figs.
