I did yes, £25 if I'm not mistaken.  Seemed good value at the time thinking I had a case for it.

Well that does mean they cannot simply abandon their case, whether in the current circumstances, where there are scores of discontinuations, that is advantageous to you is rather debatable.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

There is a lot to go at with this. Dodgy contract with landowner. VCS are making the claim but signage and contract with landowner could be Excel.

Abuse of process likely to be upheld and have evidence of no collection no fee.

It would be interesting to see the signage.

WS is going to be a dog's breakfast and will be easily pulled apart.

    Likely to fold.

But that's not so simple, because of the formal counterclaim.  I think the whole thing is a dog's breakfast.

Has the formal counterclaim already been made?

Well, it turns out I've made another mistake,  and this time for not reading properly, schoolboy error. Last one I hope.
It turns out the contract I've had for a few months is with VCS and the dates do line up with the contravention date. I had looked at the issue date (30 + days later). There are no signatures on the said contract, I'm hoping I can get something in writing from the "client" regarding never giving authorisation for court proceedings.

The OP seems to think it has. He's paid £25 for the 'pleasure'.

Can you post up a copy of the contract with the landowner please?

I'll have to do that this evening when I'm back at home. Would you advise blocking out certain details for data protection etc.
