Do they do another credit search at the end? Didnt no that we should be fine unless something we are unaware of crops up ! It shouldnt but its just a worry for anything to mess up

This was something which I wondered about. Once everything was completed I check my credit file and I could see no history of any searches.

But I'm sure everything will be fine HappyMe7. You've got to the point of valuation and Pepper wouldn't do the valuation if they weren't prepared to give you the mortgage. Obviously there are a couple of things out of your hands ie is it worth what you are paying and then the surveys but remember these checks are also protecting you as well.

Really hope you get some positive news today.

    Hey guys,

Came across this thread after reading some horrendous reviews on Trustpilot and boy am I glad i found this.

Me and my wife have decided to start pushing for a mortgage with Pepper as i myself have adverse credit from my stupidity in younger years.

The only flaw on my file now is one small CCJ which will drop off next August but we want to try and move now so our Mortgage advisor suggested Pepper.

We have advised the MA to try and apply for the AIP today and are waiting to hear back, we viewed what we see as our dream house at the weekend and this has pushed us to get a move on.

Reading the comments on here make me feel so much better about our situation and I can only hope that it doesn't drag on for months and months, although the seller of the house we want hasn't found anywhere yet and are possibly waiting for a new build in summertime which we are more than happy with to wait.

I do have a question in terms of the bank statements for Rent payments etc which Pepper request, the house I am currently in is part owned by myself and my dad and I don't make regular monthly payments on the house to my Dad due to the agreement we have, how would this fare in terms of them wanting statements?

The mortgage is practically clear on the house we are in so we have a big deposit to put down dependent on the sale of our house.

Can I ask if anybody was in a similar situation as me with just the one small CCJ which is due to drop off and ask what kind of rate Pepper offered you?

Thanks guys and sorry to jump in on this thread, just great to see that I am not the only one in this position and there is light at the end of the tunnel for us

HAPPYME7 I was told that they do a final credit check before paying out the money just to check nothing major happened between offer and exchange.
With regards to exchange your solicitor will not do this till land surveys are complete and they are fully 100% happy with the property. Like I mentioned previously mine was 3 months from Offer to exchange/completion. Don't be to keen to exchange as that's when you pay your deposit of then pepper decide not to lend you money on final checks game over deposit lost.

Maverick_TF - I found this thread so helpful it kept me sain. Pepper ask for lots of details and keep coming back for more it takes a long time to get an offer but we'll worth the wait, I can't thank them enough.

I remember reading the same reviews on trust pilot and my heart sunk.

There is no doubting Pepper are thorough but I think that's got to be expected because of the service they offer.

Yep you will need to be patient because sometimes they seem to ask for information bit by bit when they possibly could ask for the information all in one go.

In regards to rental payments I guess thats one for your broker. My rental payments were a bit odd as well. I rented off family and sometimes during a given month we did a spot of shopping for each other and then we squared up when I paid them rent, so sometimes it was lower and sometimes it was higher. I just explained the situation and they were fine with it.

    Anyway good luck with everything

Yeah that's kinda similar with me, so very good to know that they don't scrutinise it too much.

Again it's really helpful to see that some people have had good experiences with Pepper, we are only looking at having a 2 year fixed mortgage with them and then look at remortgaging after the 2 years with somebody like Halifax.

Yep thats our plan as well. Hopefully another 2 years and we will be in a better position to get a cheaper mortgage. My initial interest rate (2 years) is 3.93%. Not sure in regards to Pepper if thats good or bad to be honest.

I did have a CCJ from 2016, which was satisfied in January 2017. I received my AIP in September 2018. It took just over 4 months for the entire process to complete but some of that time was because our solicitor was ill for some of the time and we had a couple of issues with the land survey.

Ive just had an update from mortgage advisor so due to the satisfactory valuation pepper are preparing our mortgage offer which could take up to 3 days they have said, does it usually take this long?? And also they said to expect a phone call from Pepper, is this what they do and what do they ring for? And also what number do they call from so i know what to look out for??? :rotfl:thanks everyone

It didnt take mine 3 days. Call from Pepper is a security check they will want bank details for DD and confirmation of what date DD to come out. Mortgage offer should come electronically to your MA and hard copy to you few days after make sure you read it with a fine tooth comb it maybe they will lend you mo ey if certain things are paid of as it was like that with my friends, however ours was just a clear offer

I seem to remember Pepper rang me after a couple of days after they had received a satisfactory valuation but I have no idea what the number was. Now it wasn't a long call, they just wanted confirm my direct debit details and the date I wanted the direct debit to go out on.

They also informed me that they would do some final checks which I believe is normal so don't worry if they tell you this. One of the final checks which they did with myself was to confirm my employment with my employer. Not sure of your employment status but it might be a good idea to give your employer heads up.
