Morning all :hello:
May be starting the month with a nsd, maybe not. It depends whether medicine for the cat counts as a spend. It may be blurring the line too much :rotfl:
I'm back at work Monday, so will be spending this weekend stressing about it no doubt. Lots of little jobs to do today - washing, putting some drawers together for dd, picking up the cats medicine, dropping ds at his dad's.
Trying to decide whether to show my face at my school reunion tonight as well - that will definitely scupper my nsd, but may help me put a few demons to rest (my school days were definitely not the happiest of my life).
Have a good day everyone. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Welcome to September, Turtles.
Nice to see you back Raphael and Thrifty and hello to all the Newbies. There seem to be quite a few this month - you will enjoy the challenge. It's great fun and there is lots of support and advice.
Budgets done and bills paid (DD to come out but I know when that's happening). Aiming for 20 NSDs might be a optimistic but we can but try.
Oh I am trying to use up what's in the freezers and cupboards but I can't resist a YS bargain especially if it's fish. Lot's of toiletries that I'm trying to use up too.
Started on a mission last month to loose some weight (yes again) So I am eating lots of fruit and veg and cutting out the snacking. And cutting down on the alcohol (that's the difficult part!).
Things I like to do? Read which I manage to do most days. Walk which I don't. I'll have to make a greater effort with that so that can be my exercise challenge. Something I've always wanted to do - have to think about that one.
Himself and I go for lunch once a week to spend some time together outside the house but I try to use a voucher or get a deal. Rarely ever have a take away or coffee out.
I shall try to be kind and helpful. Haven't donated to the homeless mission for a while. That will be my start.
Good luck, everyone and enjoy your weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Morning September-istas!
Set budgets - Trying, why can't banks take dd's on the weekend? Does the computer get the weekend off? No. Grrrr. So will have to do a provisional budget until all the dd bill money goes out on Monday.
Use up, I know I have sushi rice and sushi wrappers but DH usually makes sushi, so will either have to make him make sushi, or make it myself which will be different, and not authentic, and he will complain about it not being traditional. Might save that for one of the days he is away - didn't think about that until half way through typing. yay! problem solved. Also have a lot of green and brown lentils. I love lentil and hotdog stew (it is a German thing) - something about the smokeyness goes so well with lentils. So will make lentil stew, which will reappear as lentil soup for my lunches. I have the world chutney mountain due to m-i-l and her passive aggressive gifting. After years of not liking it, suddenly, with my newfound ability to make a fantastic biryani, the kids are woofing it down with gay abandon. Will need to buy poppadoms to fry too. Will also do an inventory of diy materials and finish jobs with no spends attached.
NSDs will go for 20, kids after school clubs paid for / food shopping today / did all uniform before term started, so really I should only need to spend on food/ petrol / DS2's birthday present, and 2 blinds if there is any money left over.
Spread some sunshine (not cast a shadow) will endeavour to achieve.
Healthy eating - plenty of apple based dishes going on, plenty of soups now it is cooler, using the market, keeping it simple.
Invest in yourself. Will have a look into doing this, I am doing what I have to do most of the time, or what needs to be done, but not a lot of what I actually want to be doing.
No spending on takeaways or coffee or drinks etc - need a Turtle dispensation for 27th - DS2s birthday, he will probably ask for a chinese takeaway as it will not involve him having to leave the house - at least it is cheaper than a meal out for 6, plus I cook the rice at home, so we only buy the main dishes and a few sides. Saves about £15 on rice. For £15 I am happy to boil some water. Can't actually remember the last time I had a takeaway. It was more than 3 months ago anyway.
Exercise - (min 10 mins a day) Parkrun/ Junior parkrun / Parkwalk if you fancy it, plus this is the very last month I am paying for a gym membership unless I actually get my money's worth. Make or break month. Use or lose.
So those are the plans so far. Off to do ... erm... well stuff.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
