I was just worried that Orange may have cashed the cheque and then sent the payment to moorcroft, thats the only reason that moorcroft could find out exactly how much was paid.

Maybe, but it really does not matter - unless you receive a letter, from Orange, telling you that they will not deal with you (most unlikely given that they have cashed the cheque) then just keep the pond-life of 'Moorcroft' out of the equation - blank them.

Your sisters debt is with Orange not Moorcroft.Moorcroft are simply a collection agency working on behalf of Orange simply point out to them that the debt is being handled by Orange directly. Before they can initiate court proceedings they will have to go back to Orange to check the outstanding amounts anyway by which point the debt will be paid off.If moorcroft deal with all of Oranges debts it is likely they have direct access to your sisters account hence how they knew that a payment had been made. Now Orange have accepted your payment and therefore your payment plan contact them and tell them to uninstruct Moorcroft from collecting this debt.

My sister recently received a letter from Moorcroft:
I write in response to your recent dispute in relation to the above account and confirm we have been in contact with orange personal communications who have advised us that after the payments you have made you still have an airtime balance of £56.49 which is correct and due for payment.

I trust the above response has now been resolved your dispute. I can also confirm I have placed your account on hold until the 20th of march 2008 and request you make immediate contact with our call centre on the above telephone number to discuss a repayment proposal you can afford and maintain.

However if you are unhappy with the information provided please contact us by return.
With the first cheque i sent to Orange it stated i was going to send 3 equal payments to cover the debt (cheque was for £43.11), but i did not state the debt amount in letter. The 2nd and final letter with cheques in stated the total debt and how much was paid in total. In the final letter i even asked for confirmation that the debt was cleared, but as of yet i have not received anything from orange. Last payment was sent on the 15th of February. So not sure what to do. As far as i knew, the total out standing was £129.34 which has been paid in full.

    What can I do now?

    Please help.

    Kind Regards

    " Dear Moorcroft Bullies

As I have stated on my previous correspondence to you, I acknowledge no debt whatsoever to your company, or to any other organisation that you claim to represent.

You refer to an account with Orange, ref. ******, and I inform you that I have been dealing directly with Orange on this matter, which is now fully settled.

As the original 'alleged debt' was in dispute, with the original creditor, you have been acting in direct contravention of the Guidelines for Debt Collection as laid down by the Office of Fair Trading.

Any further correspondence from your company will be treated as Harassment, which is a criminal offence under S.40 of The Administration of Justice Act, 1970, and will be reported to the relevant authorities, including the Trading Standards Service and, if necessary, the Police.

    Yours Sicerely

    Mr eyeman's sister"

Would love to add the bullies part, but im sure that would be over the top right? lol

Do you think it might be a problem due to sending a letter to moorcroft in the early stages offering to send 3 equal payments to a total of £185.83. Saying that all payments made to orange stated the total amount of £129.34 apart from the first letter.

Rog2, Im going to post letter to Moorcroft now. With regards to copy of letters to orange, would there be a need for a covering letter of some sort?

    Regards
