No idea either, it’s rather sad.

Not sure even this latest tale is true, I stand to be corrected though when the custard test is done

He's tried to fake one in the past and was caught out.

Oh that will be his "get out" - he'll feign being offended because we doubted him when he produces a picture of a can of custard on the dash of his RX-8.

I've little doubt he does own one now - its all the other dross that came before it that is nonsense

Whether anyone should be driving a car hard enough to need one on the road is a moot point though.

    You brought it up!
Where would you actually drive a car hard enough on the road to warrant it?

If you've never spun the inside wheel on your car, you don't need an LSD. Getting out of a tight junction in a hurry is a good example of where an LSD will help avoid wheelspin and power will be sent to 2 wheels instead of 1.
Just to confirm I'm getting around 21mpg around town and 25-30mpg on a run. Is this normal?

    25-30mpg is very good!
Reading up online, it's recommended to use Castrol Power 1 as a fuel pre mix and 99RON fuel? Will this help increase the mpg?

Premix - some say yes, some say no. I don't know, I never did it. 99RON - waste of money in an RX8. A UK car has an ECU programmed for 95RON, and the power quoted is appropriate. A Japanese car is hard wired for better quality fuel, and is faster, and an American one is hard wired for worse fuel, and is slower. You're wasting your money on Super (97RON+) Unleaded in an RX8 the UK.

Oil burning - it's designed to burn oil unlike every other engine. If checking and topping up your oil isn't for you, this car isn't for you. And as above, you're already doing very well MPG wise in your car, so if that's a problem for you, you're in the wrong car. You can't have bought it not knowing these things.

I know very little about RX8s but it is possible that the car will self adjust for higher (or lower) octane using the knock sensor to determine the optimum ignition timing.

And whats that going to prove?

You can hardly claim any moral high ground when the issue is the whole backstory of having had one before for 7 years, wife drove it as you're away travelling so much, she got her car written off, you bought an M2 for cash, got it written off.

Or are you expecting us to be In Awe of you actually owning a real car for a change?

It might come as a surprise but out in the real world, people owning cars is not unusual.
