My youngest always says she has a sore belly when she's hungry/needs a drink/needs the loo etc. Like everything is 'my belly is sore' or 'I feel sick'

Hope you have a lovely weekend and little miss is okay

Yes, I think this is what little miss is doing now. I've got to get used to it! She's fine.

Have a good weekend too :)

It's a glorious day here today :) Really makes a difference!

I'm going to start spring cleaning I think, even if I can just get a small area done, the house looks and feels so grubby. I'm also going to speak to DH about getting our kitchen skimmed. It's got artex all over the walls and ceiling and all the dirt clings to it  I'd also like to get some cheap flooring down as it's just concrete and also looks dirty. If we could get those done, with a new blind and some decoration, and a good clean, hopefully it would make a massive difference for not too huge a cost until such time as we can afford to get the whole thing replaced (it's all from the 1960s).

So living room and kitchen done. The kids bedrooms are write offs until they're 13. Is your bedroom clear? I think you're definitely getting there.

I know exactly what you mean about reassessing items and getting rid. It does feel good.

I think you're right about the kitchen too. Artex walls would drive me insane. Is hubby handy with any of that stuff? Mine can't plaster for toffee but he's put our floor down. And we've got our kitchen now. It's from Ikea so we could do it in bits as we could afford it and hubby has been able to build it all - it's fairly standard ikea level of difficulty. Our old kitchen wasn't 60 years old but it was not well constructed and was falling apart. Get some quotes and see if it works xxx

Oh and my eldest has a "bad tummy" whenever she doesn't want to anything or needs a poo.

We are definitely getting there. Our bedroom and the rest of the living areas are nowhere near clear, but I have some clear spaces and that makes a big difference. :T

We're not particularly handy, DH can do stuff, but he's got no patience so for something like that we'd be better off paying someone to do it. Replacing the whole kitchen is years away as there's a big cupboard that used to hold the heating system that needs knocking out and we want to brick up the back door to make it a more useable space. We are happy just to make it look a bit cleaner for now.

No, it's not quality, it's just plywood with awful slatted doors which are almost as impractical as artex!

Yes, little jwil was never like it, so I'm learning to ignore it!

Spoke to DH about the kitchen and he agrees for a quote but thinks we should get the kids room done as a priority. This is additional electric sockets, new window and carpets. He's probably right. We shall try and get some quotes in.

We have packed the van, we are going to sell tomorrow at the car boot sale :T Take advantage of the nice weather and hopefully clear some bulky stuff. We've added a few more bulky items to see if we can get rid of them! DH seems to be in a decluttering mood, I'm not putting him off :j

Ugh slatted plywood. I'm starting to think you only bought this house only because it was the only one big enough for your hoard. What are the nice features of your home?

I appreciate what he's saying about the kids room but I think the kitchen sounds like less money for a bigger improvement overall for the whole family. I still think the mattress should come first though. Get your quotes and go from there. You can't really guess the costs and then you can work out which bits have the best outcome.

Mentally exposed concrete and artex and clutter weigh on me and make me feel out of control. I think you do so so well to cope with it all. Especially in the colder months when you're stuck in with it trying to navigate around it. You do so well jwil.

I was going to suggest a car boot for you. That's brilliant. I'm getting rid of a broken malm from Ikea today :) that's my irritating bulk gone for today. I think people will be buzzing to get out tomorrow and will buy all your stuff. Xxxx
