I put 2.5lb on last night again

I just completely lost it last night - everything overwhelmed me. Just fed up with it all. My depression book tells me to be kind to myself, but it's really hard when I seem to be failing at everything I try and not getting anywhere :(

I'm just treading water financially, not losing weight, not achieving stuff at work, not achieving stuff at home and can't cook!

Anyway, I need a plan of action, so:

    1) I am going to have a week on SW ready meals. This will hopefully help me in a few different ways - if I don't like them, I won't be able to blame my cooking ( :D ), it will hopefully boost my weightloss giving me motivation to continue, it will save me a little time and mental effort trying to decide what to cook for us all, the kids and DH can have what they like.

2). I am going to try and re-read my SW books and magazines to regain some motivation and focus.

3). I am going to do some listing for DH to help clear stuff and hopefully keep his motivation up for getting rid of things.

4). I am going to have some 'me' time. I went to a meeting in another town the other day, and the meeting was in their library. As I was walking through to get to the meeting room, I spotted two books which I've wanted to read for ages, and haven't found in my local library. I can borrow books from any library in the county and return them anywhere, so I borrowed the books and want to sit down and read them.

I want to go to the library tomorrow and take the kids swimming on Sunday, but apart from that I don't want to leave the house. I want to make a list of what I need for Christmas (bought some gifts yesterday using amazon vouchers) and sort out a budget for that.

Our current account has now switched. I need to pay off the small overdraft that has not switched. Once that's done next week, I will have cleared another debt, even though it's not one I counted on my debt totals.

DH is covering half term, so I want to try and crack on at work and clear some tasks.

Hopefully all of that will help put me in a better frame of mind.

  • You really do a great job and I'm sorry to hear that life seems tough at the moment. Over the last few years you've been EBay and car boot queen, you've decluttered, sorted out your finances and lost weight. All this while being a mother, wife and someone who works full time. I wish you could stand back and see you how we see you.

Just for one week focus on what you need for your well-being. If its getting back on track weight wise then do that. Try and take time out everyday just for you. Treat yourself to a face pack, new perfume or bright red nail polish (other colours available) but do something that makes you feel good every day xx
  • You are doing great jwil. Your list is an excellent idea. Don't worry you will get there ((hug))
If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

    Emergency fund 100/1000
    Buffer fund 0/100
    Debt Free (again) 25/072025

I totallly agree with all of this!

Your goals sounds very sensible and I'm sure will help. I think sometimes you need to reach rock bottom and then get so sick of your situation that it forces you to take action. So hopefully your new goals will kick start some progress that you are happy with.

Although you have been making amazing progress already if you look at your starting point. It's easy to get impatient and forget where you were when you started this journey. Maybe a list of your achievements to date would help?

  • I hear what you’re saying about a cleaner and that’s what put me off getting one for ages. Than I found one who worked out a plan which required me to clear one room that she cam in and deep cleaned. It really did help to do one room at a time. Now she does 2 hrs a fortnight just to keep things ticking over but it’s such a help

Aww thank you :o I have looked at other diets, I read a lot of diet books to try and keep me motivated (it's clearly not working!). I have read the fast diet book and know it's been so successful for many people. I did try it a while back, but I found I was getting so hungry that I was eating more rubbish. I *think* SW is the right one for me, it appeals to me and is something I can see myself doing for life. I just need to focus and actually follow the plan and stop comfort eating!

I'm glad you've found it successful though, I will re-look at it another time.

That is the sort of thing I need to do, and that's where I'd like to get to I think, thank you :)

Thank you :) I've made a start on my books. I love staying in, I'm definitely a home bird. x

Thank you everyone for your replies, they are really helping me think things through, I so appreciate it :)

    My progress on my list:

1 - I bought the ready meals yesterday. So am sorted for the week. I am cooking today as I really fancy toad in the hole, but otherwise the week is sorted. DH has bought stuff in so he will sort out himself and little jwil (little miss will eat at nursery).

    2. - read the current magazine, will go back to the books at another time.

    3. - Made a start on listing, will do some more today. DH is off this week, so I need to give him a clean sheet to motivate him.

    4. I did sit down and read for a bit yesterday. I didn't read my library books, but read one I've been meaning to declutter for a while. I enjoyed it, it was about the environment and climate change and was one of my textbooks from my OU degree so a good 20 years old! I have started my library book and enjoying it. The one I'm currently reading is 'The President is Missing' by James Patterson/Bill Clinton. I'm quite enjoying it, and it's making me think a bit! I'm definitely going to hold back on having lots of 'smart' electronics/appliances etc.
