Today's plan is listing and getting organised for the week. I do want to sit and have some time to myself as well.

DH has taken the kids out, so I'm enjoying some silence while getting some listing done.

I've mentioned to DH that I'd like to do some decorating. We've been here almost 10 years now, and in that time have done nothing other than slap some neutral paint on the walls to cover up all the strong colours that were here before. I think it will be much the same again as we are a long time away from replacing carpets etc, and still need to get electrics done, but it should freshen the place up and make it look cleaner. The woodwork was not done before so god knows when that was last done - probably in the 70s. Same with the ceilings. I think it will make a big difference. I'm also going to see what I can do about sorting the kitchen, whether we try and bodge a skim ourselves or get someone in to do it.

In the meantime I'm hoping that DH will make some space next week while he's off. He's actually started tackling some of the piles of newspaper which is a miracle, and looked at some books of mine he kept back and abandoned for a year. Small things, but positive!

I forgot to mention the other day, prompted by the weekly email, I sent off the tax form to see if I'm due any tax back from my ppi claims the other year. I don't really understand it or know whether I would be due any back, but I thought I'd give it a go. One benefit of kon marie-ing my stuff is that I knew exactly where the paperwork was, and it took me a few minutes to find it all. It shows that I have achieved something!

  • That all sounds very positive Jwil and good luck with eating plan :). I can't bear being hungry either so I eat quite big meals but make sure they are low calorie and I have to have a snack or I can't get from lunchtime until dinnertime but I have a banana as a snack which is quite filling. The important thing is to find a way of eating that suits you as we are all different.

You've just reminded me that we probably paid tax on our PPI so when we get our accounts done we may get a tax rebate.

Yes, I'm a real grazer, I am trying to eat bigger meals and snack less, but it's a real hard habit to break!

I hope you get a rebate on your PPI payment. I'd love to think I get something, but can't see how I can. At least I'll know I've tried.

In work nice and early this morning, I want to get some jobs cleared off my 'to do' list. The thought of having a long day stretching ahead of me is appealing. Hoping I don't get dragged into a meeting.

I am going to start with a 'to do' list. I'll put on and tick off a couple of things I've already achieved this morning :D

I know you say you are a home bird and love reading etc, but it may be worth you taking 5 mins a day to go out and walk (briskly) round the block or to and from somewhere but not to the shops or for any reason other than just to walk. It is amazing how much better you will feel after a bit of planned exercise, it does not take long to pop a pair of shoes and a jacket on, no need to get dressed up for it just go! It may even help your weight stay at the lower end and is totally different to the normal moving around thet you do at work and at home. I know someone with (relatively) mild depression and she feels a lot better when she does the walks, so it may help you - not when its hammering down with rain though :rotfl:

  • Morning Jwil,
Just wondered if you listened to much music at home? For me if I'm having a down day I find putting headphones on and listening to some music I like really helps. A good dance round the house 99% of the time can help me feel a little bit better. Hope you have a good day today :).

You are completely right. Thank you :) My doctor keeps telling me to up the exercise as it will help with my depression. It would help with my weight as well as my mood. I have increased my walking, but am guilty of not walking fast enough to make a big difference. I did download the 'active 10' app recently and discovered that I do not walk briskly enough.

I did feel so much better last year when I did the Couch to 5k - even when I just walked it.

I hate walking unless I've got somewhere to go, so am very guilty of avoiding it. I am full of excuses, none of which are particularly valid if I really think about it.

Thank you, I will really try and focus on this.

Thank you. I don't very much listen to music at home, but I have recently been putting my headphones in at work to try and drown out some of the background noise. It does make a difference and I should do it at home too. I love a good sing song and I can't do that in the office :D

I got on the scales this morning and they are up yet again :( I'm so cross with myself. I was all prepared to give up SW, but I've got to carry on and sort this out. I think changing groups has unsettled me a bit and I'm not so comfortable there, which has made me think about dropping out, but once we get used to it I'll be fine if I stick with it. It seems like a perfectly nice group, so no excuses!

I'm really sorry that this diary is just really whingey at the moment, it helps me to put my thoughts down. Feel free to ignore all my moany posts, although you all are giving me fab advice and helping to kick my a*se in gear. I really appreciate it :)

DH sold 25 items over the weekend :T One is bulky and has paid by e-cheque so got to wait a bit longer before that's done, but the rest have been posted :T

We have an issue with a buyer who gave the wrong address, confirmed it was right when I queried it, and now the item has gone missing after being returned to sender for wrong address

I did manage to do a load of listings for DH at the weekend, 34 I think :T

He made a real good start yesterday and has identified 5 x banana boxes of stuff to go :T They aren't out of the areas that bother me :rotfl: but at least he is making the effort. He's asked me to read a set of novels that his Mum collected so he knows they have been read and hopefully loved (he's not a reader), and then will pass them on. I've not read the author before, so happy to do it. I think there's quite a few of them though

  • Morning lovely,

Just caught up with your diary.

I too think you are an inspiration, you do so much that I don't think you give yourself credit for.

Exercise is a great idea and so is dancing like a loony around the house lol

Yay to great ebay sales and boo to the idiot over the address, hope that the package turns up.

Who is the author of the books that DH's mum collected?

    Have a lovely day xx
