yes storage units may encourage accumulation
They certainly do here..with the exception of my lovely 'new' study where having all the work files away behind closed doors does make a real difference..

Thank you everyone, you have talked sense into me. It's not the right idea plus it is a waste of money!
I'll keep nagging. It's time this week to apply for little miss's school place. I'll do a timely reminder of my ultimatum."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
I had a bit of a brainwave yesterday, was sitting pondering and realised that I had a bookcase that was just half full of stuff which has been earmarked to go (ebay stuff and DVDs). I wanted a 'proper' bookcase to replace the sling bookcase in the kids rooms. I emptied that and put it up into their room, so the sling bookcase has gone out :T
It will hold many more books so will be a real space saver. Also as it was stacked on top of another bookcase downstairs, I have gained a 'surface' which is suitable for putting the TV on which I bought a while back, which has just been sat on the dining table ever since. I also discovered a double electric socket which I didn't know was there  So that means no extension lead required out there as well. I've moved it all around, but the stuff I pulled out is still awaiting sorting and tidying. Not finished, but it is yet another small improvement :T"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". 19 items posted for DH today :T He's selling lots, but he keeps bringing stuff in from the garage etc to sell, and not dealing with the stuff in the house  I'm not worried about the stuff in the garage, it doesn't affect me! I wouldn't mind if he then moved out stuff from the house, but it doesn't happen.
I've also applied for a new joint account for us, to get the £150 cash back and 2% back on bills. I've started the switch and hoping it goes through ok, it seems to be, considering my bad credit! There is a £400 overdraft on that old account which isn't switching (no overdraft on the new :T) so need to clear that asap. I never included it in my debt total as it was just ticking over and doesn't cost anything. Better start focussing on it now. Sent over £15.70 from TCB this morning."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Chasing ebay for that refund "Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

You sound like you have been really productive. Glad you OH is still selling stuff... Can you discretely keep moving stuff into the garage for him to sort? That's what DH does with me? My carp gets moved into the garage and eventually disappears and that way its less difficult for me...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I wasn't thinking a storage unit... maybe a skip though lol. How many rooms in the house has he still taken up? Could it be consolidated? Or has it not reduced at all?
The kids room is getting better and better with every post. Well done jwil! XxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

Sadly not, he's got a car parked in front of it which doesn't run so I can't move it.I wasn't thinking a storage unit... maybe a skip though lol. How many rooms in the house has he still taken up? Could it be consolidated? Or has it not reduced at all?

I'd never skip it (tempting though it is) He's got a bedroom stacked to the rafters, right to the door, the loft, the garage, loads of stuff downstairs. No way of consolidating it. It has definitely reduced, but still a hugely long way to go.

I'm so fed up at the moment, everything is just really irritating me
I've got to get my mojo back! Eating too much rubbish again so SW is not going to be good this week.
Ebay have still not sent my refund. I'm giving up now, I haven't got the energy. I'm going to get banned if I'm not careful. I've lost patience with it all."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Oh hon...what’s the problem? You’ve been so upbeat. And are doing so well. Cannot believe how much stuff you have shifted out of your house these past few years. Even if there’s a way to go....instead look back and see how far you’ve come. Do you have any ‘before’and ‘after’ photos to encourage you?
Hope tomorrow is better....and SW is always there in a month or two
