To be fair to the Post office, although their rate is probably at least 15th worse on the travel money maximiser, it can save so much time, if you are in there getting your old age pension or unemployment giro cashed anyway.

or need stamps ....if you want to be first at the post office counter at 09.00 best start waiting at the door about 07.30 on thursday or friday

Our local supermarket sells stamps btw. I joined the PO queue the other day at 6am. I thought they must have the "Take That" ticket contract- why else would people get up at 6am to queue ? or so I thought!
The wife was really dissapointed when I handed over a set of first day covers for her 40th birthday

Well that'll be how they make their money obviously! It meant I could tie in a good exchange rate and the amount of interest I would have earned in the 2 months would have amounted to about 2p! So I'm happy, they're happy....we're all happy! Bucks to arrive on Friday so will let you know if all goes ok.
