which post office was that, I only got $1.98 yesterday

dont discount travelex- I got 2 to the pound and that was 4 weeks ago, they bought back at a higher rate than that too, 2.04 iirc.

If they bought back at a higher rate (which is normal) that means you lost money

no I didnt I got buy back at the same rate with no commission etc.

I was expecting 300 back but got 308 quid for 600 usd

USD exchange rate excellent at the moment! I'm buying now, while rate is high, otherwise if rate drops between now and date of travel I'll be kicking myself! (Last year we only got $1.68)

Tesco were giving just over $2.00 to the £ on Thursday - and what's more you can use your Tesco credit card with no charges wharsoever, and at least a month to pay! I did ask for club card points, too, but don't think I'll get them - although of course just using the credit card gives you points.
