  • Wow what a draining day - exciting, scary, overwhelming, fun and endearing all before 9am :rotfl: I truly felt like I had done a half day's work already by the time I sat down to work!

Oooh Wishing I love that, very cool, I wonder what Michael C Hall is like in real life :) we are all crime buffs! :j VDOT47 I *loved* Mindhunter and had read the book, so was fascinated to see how they turned into a series. So gutted there is only the 1. Silence of the Lambs is one of my fave movies of all time, hence reading Mindhunter in the first place ;-)
Tried Peaky Blinders couldn't get into it :o I do have Ozark on the list (we loved Breaking Bad and I feel this might be similar?)

In today's update not much but:

    - After school in the park MiniEL *Found* £3.50 laying on the grass, clearly one of the other kids sprinkled it about but we couldn't see anyone looking for it or in fact nearby that area, so MiniEL pocketed it :T we agreed milk would come out of it but the rest he could do as he pleased :) He bought a few sweets and a large Galaxy bar to (ahem) share :D and the rest went into his piggy. Result!

    - A client paid cash so will need to pop into town to the bank at some point soon in order to get my YNAB fix

    - NSD due to milk from free money ha

    - Dinner went down a storm last night (stretchy chicken tortillas with salsa, avo & sour cream) must make it more often. Tonight is same chicken but with mushrooms looking sorry for themselves, sweetcorn, last of the cream cheese and last of a pepper plus half tin of sweetcorn. Used some of the render (aka FAT :rotfl:) from the roast on Monday too, it's super delish & ready for later.

    - All the items bought for miniEL room have debited, as has water, I am glad those are gone. 2 weird Amazon digital transactions which I did not buy have gone out that I need to investigate though. The chunky (but reduced) investments come out next on the 7th. Only small regular costs still to go out now are £50 property investment, £5.99 N*tflix, £5 bank woop. The rest is down to US, so I am sticking to cash as long as I can :T

Didn't achieve anything on the to do list today apart from get through it  had a bad headache too which thankfully is now gone.

Bedtime cuddles & school decompressing shortly then watching bad tv and sofa time later with lovely dinner with mrEL.

    How has everone's day been?

  • Victory... I discovered miniEl had inadvertently (I trust) ordered games, so a quick chat with Ahmazon means cash is winging it's merry way back phew. It's the first time it happened and got me thinking to set up a parental control which took seconds. Scary to have to start this stage  but necessary I s'pose.

Seems miniEl didn't much like his first day so we had some long chats on this, I suspect this new year will involve some hard knocks and much more work :o He's been top of his class but perhaps the new teacher is more disciplined and he's sensitive so we're going to see how things progress in the coming weeks.

Yummy chicken and mushroom pasta tonight (delicious said miniEl) and I still have enough stretchy chicken for lunches and maybe even a chicken noodle soup, with carrots and spinach from fridge drawer. Freezer is full though so I will have to swap menu round a bit which is fine. Stock is on.

Early night tonight, tomorrow lots of work scheduled but also must get things done for me too from my own list ;)

  • Hi everyone, a quiet day today.
Lots of work on and managed a bad headache again which stuck with me for a few hours. I need an early night for sure as still not feeling 100% from last week. I think it's the school term start plus change in season, just feel under the weather.
No personal bits achieved apart from posting a birthday card.
At least it's been an NSD. I'll have alot to catch up on tomorrow work wise so likely can push shopping to Saturday morning instead.
Was a lovely sunny day so I'm grateful for that, and miniEl had a better day today so grateful for that too.

EL - worked through episode 9 of Mindhunter last night, so only one more episode to go. I thought I read that they'd commissioned a second series of it, but I could be wrong.

  • Morning everyone!
I might be slightly hungover :o  so having another cuppa and lots of water. Had some vitamin c and magnesium earlier which works a treat.

Was out shopping at 8am :T with miniEl and got bargainous wine deal at £2.99 a bottle at Leedl so got 2 cases. Given we drink 1 bottle a week, this *should* save us lots and last till Christmas. Very pleased with that, so our true shopping was £48.58 not too bad. Gutted that do l they did not have the special offer on dried apricots that they were supposed to as I was going to buy loads of 'em...

Ynab shuffles have yielded a £4.86 to the offset category from Virgin bill savings plus put £100 for offsetting from my pay. The rest has gone to bills for October, all I need to fund is mortgage and shopping which hubby's wages will cover. I need to fund sickness category more than usual just in case work lowers or I'm ill. I also use that category if I decide to take a day off for example so it covers hols too. I padded Christmas and car repairs.

In bad news I had contested a Parking Eye fine from being over a parking limit by something like 13 minutes and they've refused :( I was shopping at A-ldi so £70 is so high, doubt I can do anything. More bad news was our cat got into a fight I think so very expensive bill there nearly £100 but main thing is he's OK. Thanks to ynab this is something we can handle financially, would have been a knock otherwise.

We finished Keeping Faith last night, so good but so much unanswered too!
Thanks VDOT re Mindhunter, I'll keep an eye out as I loved that. We also watched the Burt Reynolds interview with Piers Morgan as it happened to be on, I don't know much about him but he seemed so personable and a shame he's gone.

Out with friends tonight very much looking forward to that, and I'm grateful for energy plus my lovely lilies are blooming and smell incredible.

Have a fab Saturday whatever you're up to :T

Brilliant deals this morning at local charity warehouse were....
    Welly boots for miniEl 1.50
9 hours long civilisation history dvd box set 2.00 for miniEL but we'll all learn something
    Onesie for miniel 3.00
Then a brilliant £2.00 spent in a fill a plastic bag full of soft furnishings for a £1 sale, I got a grey soft throw for miniEl and 3 cushions for him too, 1 cotton flat sheet single and 1 m&s cotton double sheet both great quality. Everything is in the wash now. The cushion inner only will be used, everything is in the wash now.

Have made a huge batch of bolognaise sauce and frozen into portions. Have also researched some more decorating ideas, love Pinterest for that and considering attempting some wood work, it at least wood restoration which I've done before. One beautiful table I have seems to be worth something because it still has the inner crossbars, so I've been looking at sold prices on fleabay for info...

  • Ooo hey Skinny thanks for stopping by! I'm loving the diary as I feel accountable ha. That's why it seems I'm organised :rotfl:

Pondering today that I'll sell tumble dryer and replace with freezer, using dehumidifier plus clothes rail (and a sheet on top) to dry instead. Any thoughts? I've never heard of it before until reading up here on MSE.

Aldi have been emailed re my fine, hopefully they can tell parking eye to poke it :D I have much better things for that £70 to be spent on, like a new freezer ha.

The full month food menu magnetised to our fridge is working well, wipe free and gives a good snapshot of nutrition overall too.

Managed to be good with the wine haul, only 1 bottle consumed so far ;)

Started watching the Bodyguard, first episode and oooo err, might need to watch the series again :rotfl: to ensure that I understand the plot fully you understand  :D
