  • Feeling a little bit run down still but lots of vitamin c today. Exhausted from painting so we're having a well deserved night with bubbly and mrEL cooking :T
Off to find something on N*tflix (why do people not write the full name of supermarkets, brands etc I do it because I see others do it...)
Tomorrow will do a full August ynab update and pop latest figures on here plus my key goals for the week and month.
Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend :)

  • Ooo hi Newgirly thanks for stopping by, CathT is doing so well, I am in love with her progress and diary.
Pinkypig lovely to see you, I need to check your diary as have been so busy decorating and that will be my reward for later ha. Believe me I am planning to get really going with more bits, just have been run down so from today will be more going on!

Right, my end of month report followeth, I am feeling more energetic :T much helped by a lovely night last night with hubby cooking & bubbly. We watched Secret In their Eyes on N*tflix, best Julia Roberts movie EVER. I do not usually rate her, I like her, but roles are pretty much the same aren't they with nothing different really. Well in this one it was much more character acting. If you like suspense/FBI/crime you need to see that movie, Nicole Kidman and another actor in it (from Kinky Boots) all were brilliant.

    END OF MONTH REPORT

Best month, ever. I feel this is a combination of blimmin' hard work, luck and just overall MSE.

    £4303 in
£2772 Out (£675 was work related)

    £1317 Needs
£667 on 'Wants' inc holiday so this is not a typical month Wants spend. £252.23 of this on groceries. We managed to spend less on groceries than expected considering £37 was bulk buying items.
£194 was on plastering, would have been much more but we paid for the rest with room rental income :T £70.27 on extra home improvements.

Offset progress - £1300, £100 simply moved from savings to offset, so really £300 was overpaid.

Hubby wages for Aug were lower than expected, but he is now paying petrol from his account so YNAB figures are not skewed with super high petrol spends any more which I am fine with.

Net worth currently showing at +£14.3k prob high because we are padding October out, but it all counts right no matter which way you look at it.

Today sold an item for £65, so £40 kept in cash (and moved £40 out of ATM category into decorating) then £25 remaining cash will also go to the house or going out which I had allocated £20 for anyway on YNAB. This reduces pressure on incoming cash going towards more home decor. I know what I have planned to spend, and then after this week we will be buying no more house type things until next month. This means cat flap likely moving to Oct, or, if we squeeze current budget might make it this month.

I still need to plan what to do with beans :D Veggie chilli, any other ideas? We will be a very musical house ha.

Have listed couple other items on bookface, hoping for £10-£20 extra in hand.

Menu all planned out for the month built around items I bought Friday.

Have an extra work job which I wasn't sure would come in (fairly regular but I do not count on it) wich will be £40 and won't take too long and this can go to offset as we're halfway padded for Oct.

More decorating today, getting ready and looking outside it's soooo suuuunnny:o ah well, here's to hoping next few days as am off :T

Hope everyone is having a fab Sunday so far :)

  • Loving your diary. Well done on a fantastic month!
PS I'm veggie & use tons of beans, what kinds do you have? Mine mostly go in stews & sauces, & grain salads, eg sticking them in with some couscous & salad veg to bulk it out. I also mash them up a bit to use in pasta & stirfries, their consistency works a bit better then, they stick to the noodles/pasta & thicken dishes out I steady of just rolling round the plate :-)

  • Thanks Newgirly you've reminded me, I've got 2 Jack Monroe books which I love, must recheck 'em.
Ftbwannabe hello there :) I've got pinto beans, a bucket load, literally) and bags kidney beans. The pasta idea sounds good, I also throw soaked pinto beans into soups for extra protein, chickpeas are good for that too. Hmm, a chunky bean soup will be featuring at some point this month then, I tried an amazing one in Florence once so will look online for a recipe...

Decorating 75% there, having a cuppa and biccie then ordering final bits for miniEl. He's back today and we're hopefully watching a nice movie later as he sounds exhausted.

Room ready for lodger, bathroom clean, wash on and dishes ready to put away. No replies on our sales items yet, have prodded one of the interested people, and we've listed 2 new items.

Hi EL, love your diary so far. Thank you for your kind mention of my diary. I had a period of not posting much, whilst back at uni retraining a number of years ago but am much happier when I post regularly.

Hope the sun stays out for your days off. It's usually good weather when the children go back to school.
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Thanks Cath and thanks for stopping by, yes I do hope the weather stays like this, I've been indoors painting all day boo. I know what you mean re diary, I'm aiming to post regularly to keep myself motivated and share whatever I learn, but I know life gets in the way sometimes too.

MiniEl is back and we've chosen final bits for his room together, he's very excited. I've explained that we are buying more than we'd planned as we're buying from abroad, but can afford it this way. He understands and is really looking forward to it.

Painting 85% done, I've also done 2 coats of woodwork. Hubby will finish ceiling etc next weekend.

Low spend day just needed pizza and milk, plus petrol which was all budgeted for.

Shattered now and staring forlornly at the gap left by the table I sold today, I know it's for the best though. Have also spent some time looking at old photo frames I might respray and form a collection of pics up the staircase.

Watching Walking With Dinosaurs now, very interesting and gives me a bit of info to sound like I know something when miniEl asks ha :rotfl:
