Know exactly what you mean about it being that time of the month! I've been running the calculations daily in my mind I think for the past few days, trying to work out what can be overpaid at the end of this week! I should probably get out more!

Ha ha VDOT47 you and me both... just today I was thinking I will withdraw my last £10 ATM allowance as late as poss, then use some of that for potatoes today and somehow on the weekend buy shopping Sat only so it only shows on YNAB as 1st Oct ha (as wknd transactions tend to be delayed on bank).

Have promised MiniEL some more lego this weekend from pick & mix, so that will only show up as Oct too tee he.

It's crazy what we put our minds through but a 'lack' mentality is what works best for me even though we have plenty in the account technically.

Just did a Consumer P entry for another 3,000 points so hoping in the next 2 weeks to cashout £10 on Argoose for Xmas pressies, or B&Q for a project I want to do soon. Must check Quidco in the next few weeks too for anything payable.

Approx £3 earned on Quidco yesterday so it all counts.

Very excited that this week there'll be cashback on Santander yay.

Not so excited at big car spends due this weekend or next but have budgeted for them though.

Off to enjoy the park again shortly, and buy potatoes - what a glamorous life eh!

  • Forgot to mention yesterday - we found £0.60 on the way to school Tues, then £1 in the park yesterday #result :T MiniEL was very excited to spend some and save some.

Not much to report today, need £1 milk but hopefully that is it.

A client paid today so just waiting for 2 more payments this week, these will then be the final earnings for Sep. I might move tax money that is in current acc across to offset, it's earning us more there just need to keep track of on YNAB.

Read a YNAB blog yesterday about setting up a Wishfarm category which I love the idea of so thinking things like weekend away with a lovely warm fire just us, trip to London for half term will be short term ones. Then new carpet poss - very long term :o

I am off to research cost of a new storage unit for the hall, and see if we can afford that from Oct budget, would make a massive impact to our living space, everything feels so cluttered.

Hope everyone is also enjoying sunshine - am off for a walk and then planning to work some more this afternoon and after that bake brownies for a coffee morning late tomorrow AM yum.

    Hi everyone,
hope you are having a relaxed weekend.

    End of month financials:

    £12.26 interest & cashback received
£349.11 shopping, approx £40 of which is for October, and around £40 of which is bulk buying items
£633.50 total offset to Scottish Widows
    Mortgage actual balance: £89,004
Virtual Mortgage balance inc offset and our funds: £64,804
Amount ready in YNAB for overpayment tomorrow: £524.61

    Things that went well:

Income was good, so I have padded October & November categories in YNAB
Got some good food deals on groceries etc
Got a fantastic deal on a new internal door which was £10 instead of £90
    Finished some decorating projects
Hubby has been advised he will get a small raise, and has prospect of overtime next weekend

Things that were not so good:

Spent too much on decorating projects!
Prob drank too much of the bulk bought wine :o;)
Bought lots of replacement items which needed renewing (things like rug, hallway mirror, laundry bin) which have been costly but nice

Lots planned for Oct, and with the half term likely income will dip, hopefully my efforts on padding the next8 weeks in YNAB will counter this :T

Had a lovely walk today and some light lunch out (cheesy chips and hot drinks), plus time in a home store which was nice. Homemade brownies kept MiniEL happy

Next project is to set up a Wish List then a Wish Farm on YNAB - 3 things to move over from list to farm at a time. Then you work on padding those in the farm until you have enough to spend. Dping *something* to our front garden must be 1 of the 3 Farm items.

    Action list:

    - Check train fares and book trip for us for half term
    - Measure cat flap again, one we ordered is too small doh :o
    - Sell some items on FB
    - Research a hotel so I book and do not lose my accumulated rewards
    - Buy or borrow a tool for hubby to make changes to internal door to try to fit it before it gets too cold

Have a fab evening all, we're doing Stoptober so enjoying a last bottle of wine tonight

£544.61 just overpaid - don't want to risk any more squeezing in case we're caught short this month - signature updated!
Just need to check tomorrow that the payment cleared ok with them.

    Interest Aug 18 - £3.89 per day
    Interest Sep 18 - £3.81 per day

I expect Oct will be better overall though we do ave 1 extra day.

CB is in today, so have allocated this to the holiday category, am I right in thinking there are 2 payments this month?

If you got it today then you should get another payment on the 29th :D

Renewed buildings ins - quote was £122, a call got it down to £98.25 which I am very happy with for buildings and contents too, with accidental damage to contents. Did not go for any legal/emergency cover though.
So that means £23.75 to the offset woop!

Oooo thanks Beanie, I do love that we get another one, presumably it's to do with Christmas coming up etc?

So that will go to offset too so long as we have a regular month income wise and nothing changes in terms of costs out.

Ah nothing to do with helping us budget for an expensive time then ha. So I will count 4 weeks from that one for the next one...

Desperately trying to book tickets for train to London, and also want to stay over perhaps as it's so exhausting, prices are crazy!
