What's the issue everyone has with parking tickets?

You're ignorant in this area, yet seem happy to shove in your tuppence worth with an ill-informed Daily Mail approach.
Educate yourself before coming on here and spouting tripe.
No offence intended....I'm just firing from the hip, like yourself.
I disagree with your comments. OP is probably not as well informed as some people on this matter and has probably not had a PPC ticket. And, of course, this forum is not headed "Private Parking Tickets" although that is what we tend to advise on.
It is much better to try to educate people in why we help than to antagonise them by shooting from the hip.
My earliest posts were in ignorance and questioned some things (like how would you like someone parking on your drive:o) but have seen the light.

Deastons - So you would be quite happy then to hand over £100 of your hard earned to a Parking company if you parked with 1cm of one of your tyres on the painted white line of a bay, because you deserved to be punished.0

Deastons, I don't think that many people realise that when they get a ticket from a PPC that they are in a whole new ball park (I didn't). I am from a era when if a ticket machine was not working there would be a person on site who would either take the money or say "just leave a note on your car windscreen". Not so now, they just want money from you.
They are not bothered about providing a service to the motorist as their equipment is not well maintained. They don't look after their staff and have a very high staff turnover. They don't really help the client because they upset and harass customers. They also cause clients to have bad reviews on Trip Advisor thus losing business.
The demise of the high street has been partially as a result of high parking charges and aggressive behaviour by the PPC's. Toys R Us recently closed in the Peel Centre a notorious parking hotspot. Once a person has had a ticket they rarely go back to that car park unless they have to.
The cases on the TV programme that you mention are cases where a county court judgment has gone against the defendant and the defendant has failed to pay. These would be a very small proportion in comparison with the number of tickets issued and likely to be undefended cases.

Don't forget also that if everyone could and did comply with every minute detail of the rules, and their attendants were fair and above board the PPC's would get no income and fold, now they wouldn't want that would they!0

Before you say you don't have a permit I already sent one. However, a replacement is available for the bargain price of £10. Them's the rules.
I think that's the usual level of legal standing the PPCs have after looking through court transcripts. At least with respect to PPCs operating on Leasehold land.
I see your point, but not sure I agree with it.
My driveway is private land, and currently it's illegal for anyone else to park on it without my permission. If I decided to allow parking on my driveway but stipulated that parking on my lawn comes with a £100 fine, isn't that up to me? It's my land.
Surely it's the same with all other private car parks? Follow the rules or risk a fine. Or just don't park there at all.0 -

But if everyone parked within the rules, there would be no need for the parking companies.0 -
Did it not occur to you that me starting this thread was part of me educating myself?

I would be annoyed at having to hand over £100, but more annoyed at myself for parking poorly.
As someone who parks carefully, it's very annoying when I can't use an empty space because a careless, selfish person parks on/over the line meaning I can't fit.
I get that the punishments are a bit OTT, but there's no need to pay them if you park considerately and don't over stay. Unless the issue is that the PPCs are being fraudulent (issuing tickets when the driver has done nothing wrong), then I'm not sure I see the argument (other than sour grapes).0 -
You dont see the argument?
Read some threads properly then
THeyre parasites. They dont offer an actual service of any use. Say you engage them and someoen parks in YOUR space - that person get s aticket, but YOU cannot park in your space (still) and if you park anywhere else YOU get a ticket as well!
You are either a shill or just so woefully underinformed you need to spend time and effort understanding the issue youve deccided to opine upon.0
