just received a letter (supposedly) from eon along with a letter from lowell (same envelope)
writing to inform me that as of 24/05/2018 a debt of £594.04 has been sold to lowell
contact number at the bottom is lowells
1: this dates back to ???? , as I moved properties in 2011 and informed eon and indeed continued to use eon at new home
2: the meters in the old property (as now) are Pay as you go , and when property handed back , both gas and electric were (small figure) in credit
I do not wish to contact lowell and confirm name / address for other reasons
nothing has shown on any credit report (eon) for as long as I can remember
I moved properties in oct 2011, this debt has been "sold" to lowell on 24/05/2018 ,
suggested actions please ?
NO I will not contact Lowell
edit: there was only one letter in the envelope , when typing the above I had the eon "welcome to your new home" letter from 7 yrs ago on my desk

Nothing you can do, in that case, if they own the debt.
If it gets to court stage, you'll have to sort it out there.0 -
Are you saying there was no debt due on the PAYG prepay meters (ie that you were not repaying a debt via the PAYG meters)? I ask this because often PrePay meters are installed when a customer finds themselves in arrears and financial difficulty.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

the pre pay meters were in the property when I moved in , I use3d same supplier all time I was there (5-6 yrs) , no debt or moneys were due and Eon were informed of my move to new house with prepay and supplied necessary keys/card for top up
I left eon several yrs ago (new property)
I have access to clearscore and noodle , and used the other one (expedian?) for a mths trial about 2 yrs ago , Eon were not reporting anything
surley they would have had to default the account (if any money was owed) within "x" mths , , I left property on 25th oct 2011??
this was sold to lowell on 24/05/2018
are we not passed the 6 yr stage?0 -
You are passed the six year point. But you are saying you will not contact Lowell. Then there is nothing you can do....except wait for the next letter / contact....
Maybe there was a legacy debt on the meters that came from the previous household who lived at your old address?I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

I would not be surprised if no debt actually exists lowell have been active on another matter and have written several times asking for me to confirm my address
lowell seem to report to noodle , however this particular item is not shown, they have "supposedly" had this debt now for 3 mths?0 -
You need to contact Lowell, even if by email, and send a Prove-It template to confirm that you do indeed owe the money and that it is not statute barred0

that is exactly what lowells would love me to do , give them a ring or email them and state my new address
perhaps I should wait till they report it to a credit agency?0 -
Email them then.
They can reply by email.0 -

But Lowell already have your address ;-)
That "Eon" letter would be printed from the same machine as the "Lowell" letter.0 -
Hi,
Right, the long and the short of it is this, if you do nothing, Lowell will end up with a county court judgement against you by default, because if you do not converse with them, they will get legal with you, that is a fact.
You should go straight in with the statute barred letter.
Ignoring them will prove costly and only end up with you having to pay a debt you may not even be liable for any longer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
