Gov. Consultation on wood & coal

It most certainly isn't nonsense! Wood burning has been widely encouraged as 'carbon neutral'. I personally know a former Greenpeace bigwig who has made a career out of pushing wood and 'biomass'. Trying to pretend so-called Greens haven't been prime movers in energy policy is one of the most disingenuous things i have ready on this site in months. And who was it that invented the fuss about so called 'carbon emissions' in the first place? Who used its supporters in the media to apply pressure on government to 'reduce carbon emissions?' which a compliant government duly did via taxation policy? It's quite bad enough that we have to live with some of these appalling decisions without having to witness so-called environmentalists trying to absolve themselves of responsibility when it goes horribly wrong.0

Fine. You go and live in the 14th century. I'm sure you will find a few like minded souls who wish to do likewise. Just watch the smoke from the sticks you gather for firewood, DEFRA might come down on you.0

Hmmm. Slight problem there.
Have you heard of the first law of thermodynamics?0 -

How do you suggest homes should be heated without moving energy from a fuel source?0 -

I think he means we shouldn't be using carbon based fuels.0 -
Electricity is deemed the most efficient fuel.Or should I call it energy? After all it is created by fuel. That may be coal,(an eco - nasty) ,gas,( to be banned by 2050),biomass,praised by the Green Saints, but it uses wood products from another country .That takes fossil fuel to get it here, and uses water from another country too! Wind and solar needs fossil fuels to manufacture the equipment to generate the electric. It takes fossil fuel to maintain it.Nuclear is efficient, but leaves waste that no country wants, and will take tens of thousands of years to deplete...where do you want to be?
There is a saying that, " The last man on Earth will cook his last meal on an open fire. " How selfish!0 -

Better insulation, so you don't have to keep burning fuel to keep the house warm.
Bear in mind that every person in the house is a walking 100W heater. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

...But WHO is going to pay to lift the insulation standards of the existing housing stock?? Most of the houses built since the Second World War will still be around at the end of this century!0
