reading ur original post..might have a SIM lock on it not a Network lock?

ebay unlockers are for Network unlock codes?

Even then when I requested a code it did not work.


Though that was because the first digit was a 0 and they obviously get it as a csv and then open in excel so it dissapears. Worked it out eventually!

OK how do I check for a SIM lock? Fitted a new SIM and get the message (post 1) Interestingly with no SIM I still get the Vodafone opening Jingle - where is that from? phone memory.

Make a note of the IMEI of the device you wish to unlock by dialling *#06# on it and then call us on 0345 301 4455. We!!!8217;ll send you a text with a code to unlock your phone and instructions of how to do it.

The Vodafone opening jingle will be rolled in to the OS.

Is it just the one new sim you've tried? As said a couple of posts up it could be that the sim you're using has it's own lock on it, you can do this with any sim as a security measure so that no one can use it in a different phone.

If it is only the one sim you've tried, then try a different one. If it works then it's the sim itself that is locked and you'd need to know the code for it (no one can unlock it for you).

Hi all, Been off line so thanks for replies. The SIM is brand new GiffGaff unused. The ebay unlocker could find no reference for the IMEI code for the phone and has refunded my £1.25. So gents where do I stand now. Vodafone will not give the code, plenty of excuses, ebay unlocker cannot find any reference to to my IMEI code. There has to be a nuc - who would have this? htc, Vodafone, Tesco Direct the supplier???

Is not Tesco unlocking for its 'Tesco mobile' network only?

Your Tesco Mobile pay as you go phone will be free to unlock 12 months after it was activated.

Phone is not on Tesco mobile network. On the Vodafone pay as u go network. Purchased from Tesco Direct as a phone on Vodafone network. Not purchased from Tesco Mobile.
