  • Interest has cleared but account now "read only" and cant be closed. Until tomorrow.

Looks like they have closed the double interest error.... at Issue 12!

My account has in the past 10 mins switched to read only. I no longer have any means to close it until tomorrow. Have they fixed the issue?

    Mine too

Well well Virgin, you finally got there, it only took you 12 issues...
  • Maybe the IT fixers from Clydesdale have moved in and put a sticking plaster over the glitsch.

Augurs well for IT under the new regime. Well done!

Mine didn't go read only and I've just made a withdrawal. Do only have monthly interest though.

Edit: it's just gone read only (or "Account maturing"). Must've got in just as it was being changed over. So much for being an "instant" access account.

I'll bet a Virgin money / Cyldesdale team are reading this thread and sighing with relief that it's fixed!

Maybe they were waiting for this one to mature (with this fix) before the next online was launched.

Having said that.....let's see what maturity date brings!
  • Do we have grounds for a complaint that the account is supposed to be instant access but in effect our accounts have been frozen and we have no access. Compensation due, equivalent to what would have been the extra interest payment?

Yes. I was going to complain before I managed to put a withdrawal in.

Withdrawals are blocked from around 6pm.

In my case, my current account was overdrawn because I was expecting to be able to make a withdrawal today to cover an outgoing payment.

Dagnabit no double bubble for me!
  • Received this email 7th August

"On Tuesday 20 August 2019, your Regular E-Saver Issue 12 account is maturing. You don’t need to do anything, we'll automatically move the money into our Easy Access E-Saver Reward Issue 18."

They moved it today and made read only until end of next business day. I am going to inbox them and ask if the interest covers to 20th.
