DONT Thomas Cook it

Options
Booked a holiday last year with Thomas cook for me and the wife for a nice quiet break????....a few days ago (e mail) Thomas cook got in touch saying that the hotel "can be popular with younger groups and the atmosphere at the hotel can be lively".......but it wasn't advetised as lively neither did we book a lively holiday....I am 61 with a pacemaker/difibrulator......I dont need excitment.
I contacted TC "operations team"..........they "sympathise".....really?

I have been in touch via telephone/chat for no end of time to the point of madness.........always the same "we understand" "sympathise".........Its gaulling to here there catchphrase "we want to give you a great customer experience".....what a joke.

They have not offered any change of accomodation unless we pay the difference quoting £800 extra!!!!..........other than that its to cancel...we have booked overnight Birmingham hotel and paid for a taxi.approx.....£170. We have friends going the same time too with Balkan.

We are due to go in 11 days.......what a nightmare

I have made contact with "Thomas cook cares" Twitter page.........whatever next

Reading some of your other posts, you must be one of life's unlucky people.

Did you have a look at the Hotel Reviews on Trip Advisor or Booking.com before you booked?

You have not mentioned the hotel name so not sure if you are after comments and advice from the MSE forum community or just wanted to sound off.

Perhaps look on Trip Advisor for some reviews from recent hotel guests.
  • Well.. then... Do some research before you book?

It's not up to the travel agent to remind you that it's a lively area before you book it.

Sorry but it is not their fault, it is up to you to research the hotel first.

Sorry to say but this is the risk you take with any hotel that caters mainly to package holiday makers.

Thomas Cook have block booked rooms they need to sell, they'll sell them to anyone who wants to go. Even if TC advertise a hotel as 'quite' there's nothing to stop other travel agents touting is as party central.

which hotel is it, my son has just been to Bulgaria and his complaint was that everyone was too old at the hotel he stayed at
  • Pom Pete...unlucky?.....maybe so
Westin...Not after comments really if any one had worthwhile advice thats a plus.
    Campbell......your contribution is insignificant..move on.
Heather, yes I looked at reviews at the time of booking no obvious problems, apparently "word " has come back from resort reps about "lively" guessing they have had complaints etc. Not our fault no mention of a "lively hotel" at the time of booking.
Peachy you have a point..........Not good practice though...and thats part of my point.
    Photo......Its the Smartline Madara...........Golden Sands..........wish I had the same complaint.....old is good...lol

But did they specifically describe it as a quiet hotel? As if not, then I don't think you have a complaint.
