Simpsons Removals UK Scam Artists!

There are lots of international shipping and removal businesses that will tell you ‘your goods are on their way’, but of course don’t deliver but they have managed to pressure you into giving settling the bill (as if you don’t settle your goods wont be shipped!).
Simpsons Removals / International Shipping company is probably the leader in this as I know I’ve been conned...
I am doing some research on other companies that take your money and don’t deliver. So if you’ve had a horrible experience I’d like to hear about it. Comment away good people and thank you in advance

I hope you're very confident of your position as you run a risk of being sued for libel. It's also possible that MSE will delete the thread if they think they might get caught up in any legal action, they've done it before.0

You will need to give more details . Where were they moving you from and to? Was your shipment a part load? i.e they were waiting to make up a full load before shipping
Did you pay them upfront ( normal practice ) did you fill out all the necessary forms correctly , and were you liable for any customs fees , and did you pay them ?Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

This company seem to have poor reviews on one website and fewer but better reviews on another.
Did you research them before deciding to do business with them?
What do their T&Cs say about payment in advance of shipping goods?
I've found this which suggests they want payment upfront:7 Payment
7.1 Unless otherwise agreed by Us in writing, payment is required in full by cleared funds at the time of booking the removal or storage period. In default of such payment We reserve the right to refuse to commence removal or storage until such payment is received. Such advance payments are protected under the BAR Pre-Payment Protection scheme as detailed in the BAR Code of Practice.
"will tell you ‘your goods are on their way’, but of course don’t deliver but they have managed to pressure you into giving settling the bill (as if you don’t settle your goods wont be shipped!)."
What are you doing about your own specific experience with this company?
Why do you need posters to tell you their own experiences about other companies?
Are you a journalist looking for a story?0 -
If the op doesn't return it's safe to say this could be an unsubtle type of blackmail0

It does have the hallmarks of a dump n run0

This has got to be the worse company I’ve ever moved with. We were completely taken in by the sales pitch, ‘family run, independent, been moving people to South Africa for years…’ Yet the local firm they've hired to move our things here had never dealt with them previously.
They’ve made several errors to date:
1. They didn’t ship when we asked them to. When I contacted them they said I’d given no instructions to them, until I produced the paper trail.
2. They tried to charge me storage when the quote said storage was for free for the first 4 weeks. They then agreed that they would not charge and that they would bear the cost of storage beyond four weeks due to their mistake mentioned above.
3. When the container arrived they had not sent the Bill of Lading - a legal document - which meant the shipping company wouldn’t release the container until this was received by telex. We only became aware of this when Bayley’s South Africa (their agent in this country) notified us that there was an irregularity. We called several times but were told it had been lost in the mail! We had a good friend, who works in exports, contact them on our behalf. It still took over a week to produce a copy.
4. Bayley’s South Africa now have our furniture but have refused to deliver the goods as they’ve not received payment to deliver them. This is over $2600. They invoiced Simpsons on 28th Sept. Simpson’s have consistently not paid, lied to us about having received the invoice, and told us yesterday that the payment was being processed but told Bayley’s within an hour of talking to us it can’t be processed as the accountant is on holiday.
5. I rang today after emailing them (they don’t respond to emails) and asked to speak to the MD - Melanie Simpson. The sales manager (who refused to give his name) hung up on me.
6. Tracy their office manager is probably one of the rudest people I’ve had the displeasure to do business with. She has lied, and lied and told more lies to cover their backs.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I can only assume by the similar situations people are find themselves in that Simpson’s have a cash flow crisis and can’t pay their moving agents overseas.0 -
The same thing I’d happening to me. My shipment arrived at its destination yesterday after 4 months. And it can’t be delivered because they say Simpson hasn’t paid them, either. Has your issue resolved? Who can I contact? I’ve been calling and emailing them since yesterday. So upset.0

Keep an eye on the London gazette and companies house in case they are going into liquidation0
