We agreed that she would give up work while she had children. I assumed that when our children became adults she would work . She assumed otherwise.0 -
People who have well paid proper careers (lawyer, doctor, judge, barrister ..and so on) will probably have sufficient nous and income to be able to hire a nanny or an au pair if they need one, and a cleaner! Fair enough, IMO/QUOTE]
Aren't you contradicting yourself here. You keep going on about what crap mums working mums are, dumping kids with childminders but it's OK for those professionals you need?
My DD who was in FT childcare from the age of 10 months, 8 to 6pm school clubs etc... Is going to study Medicine, might be treating you one day. The key attribute medical schools look for is resilience and being able to cope with stress and demands. Having got used to such schedule from an early age so it became her normality has most likely helped up to become so!
As for being paid for cleaning your house and bringing up your kids you are/were...by your husband who supports the jobs you do.0 -
What a pile of carp.
You are simply wasting everyone's time.
I'm out. Can't believe it has took people 11 pages to realise what a self important crock, this whole thread is tbh.Certainly not taking the clown seriously but interesting discussion if you ignore him.
You lot are hilarious
It is meant to be a discussion, as maman says. You're going to get differing points of view. If you don't agree with something, argue against it. If you don't like someone, or their opinions, either don't read their posts or use the ignore function, it ain't difficult.
I see fred's also being ganged up on by people who can't string an argument together. Quite funny, really, but I strongly suspect the thread'll be pulled sooner or later, because of a few women who take a dislike to someone's posts, hit the report button and play the offended card..Signature Removed by Forum Team ..thanks to somebody reporting a witty and decades-old Kenny Everett quote as 'offensive'!!0 -
btw fred, that link doesn't work, it comes up as page not found.Signature Removed by Forum Team ..thanks to somebody reporting a witty and decades-old Kenny Everett quote as 'offensive'!!0

I don't see anyone genuinely offended. I think most people don't really care what others are doing in their private lives, as much as certain other people, and definitely not to the point of being offended..
The only thoughts I have, are that it is a telling, that with a lot of time on a persons hands, the world and internet at a persons fingertips..that this drivel, dressed up as a 'discussion' was started in the first placeThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

I think that is a bit unfair if you read the OP it came about because of a study discussed in the media. Whatever you think of how the OP has extrapolated that and commented on it, the discussion is valid as it seeks to explore an issue which people have very different views on.0 -

Normally I would agree with you, but the discussion, resulted in certain persons using this as a platform to repeatedly patronise others life choices.
That's not an adult discussion.
That is a person who is 'less than comfortable' with their own life choices, attempting to belittle another, in an attempt to feel better about their own choices
That is what irks me. A lot of people on here are of the 'live and let live' mindset, but some..have a different agendaThe opposite of what you know...is also true0
