  • I would keep and EF if you have one rather than pay off debts at least then you don’t have to resort to CC which you may have to do without an EF.

I just wouldn’t put anymore in to it whilst you have debts. Then when debts are gone aim to get to 6 months salary in an EF.

Halfway through placement, 4 weeks left.. I'm enjoying it but it's hard going. I know it's not meant to be easy but it's much harder than I anticipated. Obviously not helped by how much I'm driving every day.

One more weekend at work next weekend then I'm officially bank. I can't wait because I'm just beyond exhausted, I feel like I'm on the verge of a crisis if I'm honest.

Made £42 on casino offers this weekend so far.

Cannot wait to be finished placement and catch up with things.

  • Could you put half of the emergency fund into the card and keep like 500. I figure that’s enough to cover any car emergencies etc and then once paid off credit card focus on building the emergency fund back up before tackling your loans.

    *Virgin Credit Card - £3552.50 - £0
    *Natwest - £1828.35 -£0.00

    Creation Finance - £960.32 £840
    *Total debt - £8040/£11641.17*

Possibly, I had kind of set my heart on paying the car off first but I don't think that will be as achievable now I'll be doing less hours at work, might just be a case of letting the car tick along for now and focus on getting the card paid off.

Well today was meant to be my last shift at work, I set off however I never managed to get there, I also almost didn't get back... the weather here in the dales has been mental not so much the wind (we are on a hill we are used to it!) but the rain the amount that fell in such a short time was crazy!

So I'm officially just on bank now so will work as and when.. made another £48 matched betting today, I'm determined to make as much as I can to pay off the debt ASAP.

Need to work on getting the shopping budget down, I'm still spending too much on rubbish.

  • I’m guilty of spending too much on rubbish as well, it’s so easily done, just try and menu plan and do a shopping list has helped me. Chocolate and fizz are my downfalls at the moment i keep just popping to the shops.

It's exploiting offers from bookmakers to make a profit. I'm not good at explaining it to be honest. Have a google that will explain how it all works.

I'm in my second last week of placement, I've been pretty lax with money lately in the sense I've just been doing what I can, I've done 3000 miles whilst on placement and I'll only be able to claim just over half of it back. Great that we can but when you've spent almost £1000 on fuel and your only getting 28p a mile back it's a bit rubbish.

I'm looking to get some more matched betting done this weekend and I've got a uni assignment to do.

Car is off for it's service and MOT today, I really hope it isn't too expensive!!

  • Hi there. Glad the placement is going ok. Always found placements stressful. You have to be upbeat all of the time and impress your educator whilst travelling, meeting new people and getting to grips with the area. Soon be finished.
I work in a very specialist area in a community respiratory team. Didn't know anything about it when I started 6 years ago,but absolutely love it. Great team too which includes physios and nurses, but also a speech and language therapist (even rarer). Neuro is such a wide area and so much to learn about. Did acute neuro as a placement and outpatients and stroke unit on rotation. Don't think you ever get to know everything. Fascinating area though.
Good luck with the assignment and hope the car sails through the MOT.
Have a good weekend. At least the wind has died down.

Yeah I've found it very stressful and tiring. I have enjoyed it, it's just been made more difficult by the weather and being off ill for a few days. I just hope I get a decent grade.

Oh that sounds like a very interesting role Mrs Boo, the team I'm with doesn't have nurses just OT's, physio, SLT and rehab assistants but it's interesting the dynamics and how they all work so well together.

Car passed it's MOT with flying colours thankfully!

Had a bit of a mare yesterday though, checked my CC online and I'd been charged interest, I got on live chat to them and they have begun charging me interest on part of my balance. Luckily I had enough money saved up to pay that chunk off so it will be back to 0% for the rest of it.. on the plus side the balance is now down to £2900.. think I'll try clear this first now.

Going to have a day doing some work I need to do for next week then have a lazy afternoon.
