Being a mature student, a very skint one..

Work went ok, I enjoyed it although yesterday seemed to drag.
Just finished wrapping the last of the presents coz I'm going home tomorrow for a few days.
Still haven't finished this god damned assignment.. it's stressing me out..
Have a fantastic Christmas everyone

Hello hope everyone has had a nice few days, pretty much business as usual here now.. I had a nice few days at my mum's got some lovely presents and ate far too much.
In typical murphy style my laptop has decided to break, not what I need when I have two assignments due in 9 days!! Luckily when I bought it I paid for cover from Currys so I took it to the shop first thing and they are sending it away and I should get it back in a week.
Luckily I'm able to use the OHs laptop although it is like going back in time as it's clunky and huge and oh so slow.. but it does the job
Been thinking about financial goals for the next year, I'm determined to pay off all my debt before the end of 2020, I've started casino offers matched betting and I'm hoping this will give me a few hundred at least to throw at the debt every month. Hoping I can wizz through enough offers by the end of Jan to make up the shortfall I have to pay off my car finance. That will save me £140 a month once it's paid off.
Anyway off I go to crack on with some more of this assignment.

It's been a few weeks since I posted last.. I've been absent mostly because my life has been placement and work.
It's exhausting.
I've asked to go on bank and I've resigned from my current contract. I've not been happy with the last couple of uni assignments I've handed in and I've just got no balance at all. Bank will be better as I'll have more flexibility around uni.
I'm spending so much on fuel because I'm driving over 130 miles a day to placement then to all the appointments. I'll only be able to claim so much of it back from uni.
I know I need to up my game with uni that's the most important. So hoping bank and MB will keep the bills paid and hopefully pay off some debt.
I've got the weekend off I'm so excited to have a lie in I'm on day 14/14.
Have a great weekend

Had a nice lie in this morning, I'm up doing some housework. About to start a study skills work shop online. Hope this will help me work out where I'm going wrong with the uni work and help me going forwards.
I'm also going to sit today at some point and go through my direct debits and work out if I can save anything.
My total debt today is £12,273.60
It is going down slowly, just got to keep plodding along!

Glad you're back on track WL.
Hope the placement is going ok. Met a student this week at a MOHO (you'll know what I mean!) training day. She was working in a complex care and dementia service. Keen to incorporate some MOHO assessments into my practice (it's been a long time coming) but the training days covered more observation assessments when the client is not so articulate. There will be some out there.
Like you said keep plodding on and you will get there. Sometimes we have to 'cut ourselves some slack' to recover and take stock.
Glad you managed a lie in. How lovely. Sad person I am I was up early because I have a free weekend (ish) and wanted to make the most of my holiday starting on Tuesday. It's a beautiful day too. Blue skies and sunshine with a heavy frost this morning.
Don't suppose you are going too wrong with the Uni work. Sometimes it's just sticking to the formula and tweaking things a bit. I qualified over 16 years ago so very out of date. The end goal will be worth it. Are you able to meet up with a tutor and discuss your concerns. I had a very helpful tutor for my dissertation and it really helped. Obviously some are better than others.
Anyway enjoy the weather and weekend.
Take care

Thanks Mrs Boo, I'm really enjoying it, I'm with a community neuro team, an area I didn't know much about if I'm honest but it's so interesting. What area of practice are you in? The MOHO training sounds interesting, I know on my first placement on our first day they gave us the MOHO manuals to look through, that was enough to scare anyone half to death.
Yeah I just need to not go flat out coz I'm exhausting myself and it's affecting my uni work. Hopefully I'll have the balance right now being able to pick up shifts when I can.
Hope you have a great weekend.

£28 made today MB. I'm just dipping in and out when I can because I'm so busy. I'm just doing casino for now as I don't have weekends free to do sports stuff and to be honest I find it so much easier.
I still need to give up my fizzy drink habit, it's such a vice to me and it costs so much money. I also need to cut down on the food bill I spend so much on crap.
Things to work on.

Just hit £100 profit from casino offers which I'm happy about, now just got to get that up to £10k like some people have done! I feel like that might be too ambitious but we shall see.
I'm full of cold and feel utterly crap, I have a study day today and I don't plan on doing much at all. I'll probably just do some housework and chill.
My bank post is now official, so once I've worked my notice I'm good to go.
Payday on Friday, just got my payslip online this morning I'll be getting a little more than I expected which is nice.
Need to do a shopping list as the freezer is nearly empty.
Have a great day.

Just been looking here on this site and I'm just pondering.. Martin say's it's better to pay debt off than have savings for an emergency.
I currently have £1000 in an emergency fund as I'm following Dave Ramsey steps. So which way is best?

Been off placement the last few days with some bug, I've snuggled on the sofa and made £39.54 today from casino offers.
I've also started my next uni assignment, determined to do better with this one.
Payday today, got food shop delivered so all good in that sense. Back at work tomorrow. 3 weekends left to do.
Determined to get the money together to pay off the car asap, I feel like that will take a big pressure off when it comes to the monthly budget.
Have a great weekend,
