Oh my goodness Wellylass you are in a pickle at the moment.
On a positive note you show great self awareness and are not afraid to ask for help either.
Best of luck for today with your GP appointment and hope the counselling is good on Tuesday.
It is a hard course and what with studying and working, It's a stressful time.
So glad you didn't withdraw from the course. You'll definitely get there. I know in my 3rd year there were times when I wanted to end it all, like you, it was only thoughts, but just goes to show the impact of stress on our brains.
Remember that you only have to pass the course to qualify!!! Your degree grade may get you to the first interview, but after that nobody cares. Have worked with staff who had a diploma and 3rd class degrees. They were no different to anyone else,in fact, thinking of a few, they were brilliant. A tutor once said that a highly academic OT doesn't always make the best OT. People skills are more important.
We used to have pass or fail for placements, but have just changed to graded ones.

Anyway hang in there and have a good rest over Christmas.
    Take care

Thanks Mrs Boo, I can't actually get in at the GPs until new years eve. Uni have also cancelled my appointment as the lady is unwell but I don't mind as the weather looks horrendous tomorrow so will be glad to get back from uni at a decent time.

I just want to get to a point where I feel like I'm actually doing as well as I can, at present I just feel like I'm winging it and that's a dangerous game to play. We were meant to get our first assignment results back today but they have pushed it back until Thursday.

I've just got to get these done and focus on my placement and pay off my debt with my next student loan installments then hopefully by 3rd year I can just go on the bank and focus 100% on uni.

Anyway must go crack on with this assignment.. It's a cold but beautiful day in Yorkshire :)

    Have a good week everyone.

  • You are having a tough old time of it. If you're really struggling with the implant is an emergency appointment an option?

Also is there anything you can do to make the commute a little more bearable/productive? Audiobooks?

No I don't think it warrant's it really and I'll have to speak to someone before they will take it out, they will convince me to try and keep it.

I joined some groups on FB and it's crazy how many people suffer with the side effects, I also think it's terrifying how the doctors just seem to think these longer term contraceptives are the answer. I totally understand why they recommend them but still.

Yeah I do listen to a few podcasts and things, just got to accept it's the joy of living in the middle of nowhere. It's not the driving per se, it's the fact it's on horrible, dark windy roads where people drive like idiots.

Happy Sunday everyone, hope you've all had a nice weekend. We went home to see my family yesterday for the yearly family get together, that was nice. Had fun getting home as it was snowing on the tops, luckily my little car made it! Woke up to a good inch and a half of snow although it's melting fairly fast now.

Wanted to have a productive day but I've had a bad head all day, absolutely sick of them now. I never had any trouble on the pill I was on.

Going to cook a roast and do a budget tonight. I've finished uni for 3 weeks but still those assignments to do.

  • Hey, I was just looking through the diaries board on a whim (thinking about making my own), and I saw yours. I'm also a mature student in my second year now, and struggling to juggle the pennies.

I wanted to reach out and say hi and express my compassion with your situation. I've experienced a lot of issues with my mental health, and frequently question whether I should keep on with the degree at all - they've bombarded us with assignments at this time of the year. It doesn't feel much like a holiday, I know that much!!

I will be subscribing! Sending you positive thoughts. =D

Thanks Olliegami, this diary just seems to be moaning about everything. I promise I'm not actually that dull :o I just keep thinking it will all be worth it. I do find it hard tho working and studying, it's definitely detrimental to my uni work but I don't have a choice really.

I'm bashing on with my research project proposal today, I want it done ASAP.

Hopefully will be able to view my pay slip at some point today as we get paid on Wednesday.

Just plodding along money wise, can't do much until pay day.

    Have a good day.

I actually suck at not spending... as it's coming to the start of the new year I thought right I'll review everything and see what's what..

I just worked out since the 2nd of November I have spend £298.63 just in the co op  this is on top of a £60 trip to the butchers and (I can't believe I'm writing this) 2 shops in Asda totaling £136 :wall:

Hilarious considering I budget £150 a month. Obviously I've been spending money intended for other things.

    That's almost £500

I need to sort myself out and reign this in or I will never be debt free. I do write a list or do the asda shops online so I'll look through the cupboards as I do it.

It's all these pesky little trips to the co op (it's the nearest shop) as it's a 40 minute drive to the nearest big supermarket.

Any ideas how I can sort myself out??

Welly (who should have shares in said shop:mad:)

Can't wait to get this implant out I've cried every morning this week and I have no idea why.

I honestly feel like canceling christmas coz I have too much uni work to do and working as well.

Maybe roll on next christmas when hopefully I'll be more organised!

Anxiety is high today because I'm back at work tomorrow.. wish I felt ok with it but hopefully it will get better... worried a bit about doing 7 days a week with placement for January and February but hopefully can manage it.

It's so hard because I love the money for 2 days a week but I'm missing out on so much socially and I feel like I'm hardly seeing anyone or my OH!.. but I've worked out if I can get the car and my credit card paid off by September I can go on the bank and just work as and when and concentrate on my degree 100%

I'm also going to start MB again even a few hundred a month will help me pay the debt faster.

My mum's partner took ill the other day and was in A&E for a while and it made me think, life is so short.. (I should appreciate this more my Dad died when I was 18 he was 58) I know this coz I see it in my job, I see it in my future career but how much more time will I waste being crap with money and stressing myself about things I can't change? hmm.

    Have a good weekend everyone!
