Easyjet seating policy

Absolutely not. If you have to evacuate a plane it's an emergency, a very pressing emergency, you leave everything behind.
I wouldn’t want to see someone prosecuted for grabbing something that their life depends on.
Not all emergency landings are at airports with help quickly available.
Maybe people in this situation should be given small bags that go round their neck or something. All other hand luggage left behind.0 -
One would think that the most vital things would be kept on one's person, in pockets or pouch.
New aircraft designs should include luggage bins that can be locked remotely by crew in the event of emergency evacuation, although it would be harder to control bags stowed under-seat.Evolution, not revolution0 -

The article about the Russian crash said this has been considered but might slow evacuations down even more as people try to get them open.0 -
I agree with the seat rant and together with the way Ryanair unexpectedly grabs your locker luggage to put it in the hold as you walk towards the plane steps, I now have 'use Ryanair last' policy. Haven't flown them for 4 years and counting.
Now have to check if Easyjet has become un-easy.0 -
This is not a scam, airlines are a business and as such are allowed to run their business anyway they want as long as it is legal, charging people to sit where they want is a choice, just like hotels charging single supplements or charging some children as adults during room occupancy ratios, you have the option, pay or take whats given
With the same info being compulsorily supplied to e.g. the Google flight checker (others are available).
Only then would I deem it 'not a scam'.0 -
Define quite recently. People have been getting split for years since the option to pay to select seats was introduced. Even in the old days of airport check in people got split. It is not logistically possible for everyone to sit next to who they want to. Not everyone that pays to pick seats does it so they can sit next to a particular person or people. We pay but we don't choose adjacent seats because we want aisle seats. Often they're not across from each other but that doesn't matter. The airline in debate only does short flights so for adults it shouldn't be a problem.
If either of us needed to be seated next to each other for any medical reasons we would pay to sit together. If you have special assistance booked then you get seated with one accompanying person free of charge. If and when we have had children with us we have paid to sit together.0 -

Ryanair don't unexpectedly grab your locker luggage and put it in the post. They used to because the overheads just aren't big enough for everyone's hand luggage, even when people don't bring oversized bags. They changed their hand luggage policy and it stopped all that. Easyjet also check hand luggage into the hold free of charge at the gate because they only allow 70 bags into the overheads. They sell hands free to help alleviate that. Jet2 allow you to pay to guarantee to keep your hand luggage in the cabin. All airlines gate check hand luggage if the overheads are full.0 -
The regulator needs to force airlines to list their seat allocation price range + carry on and hold luggage prices right up front with the fare.

Then all that would happen is that people will moan they are paying for a seat choice when they don't want it. The OP for instance would have had to pay extra for their flights which would have included allocated seats, the whole point was that they want to travel cheaply, but have all the add on bits included.
I don't think it is a scam at all, if all you want is a seat from A-B then all you need to see is the price of a flight. Any extras are charged for later, with the choice of the traveller, but no one has to pay extra. Many people just want to get from A to B , they don't want allocated seats.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. BA Also take cabin bags away to the hold when the overhead lockers are full, it happens on virtually every flight out of city airport. BA Have a strange banding system, I don't really understand it, they call you through depending on a letter on your boarding card, A first etc, by D they usually warn that all wheeled bags after D will be taken for the hold.
Oh yes and Norwegian, they take the cabin bags off the last few people boarding once the lockers are full. At that point only people with bags small enough to fit under the seat can board with them .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
