Sold faulty artificial grass

Hi, after some advice on where I stand. I purchased some artificial grass which I couldn't get laid until over a month after I had it. When it was laid by a contractor there is a line through it which the company I bought it off is saying it's a manufacturers fault.

I feel I should either have it replaced or at least compensated in some way.

Do I have any rights to want this?! Or no?!

Thanks in advance.

What remedy has been offered by the seller?

Yes contacted them and they haven't offered much to be fair apart from my response above. They have admitted that it's a manufacturers fault.

    This is the original response..

    Hello,

Thank you for the photo. Yes it looks like a manufacturing fault unfortunately.

As you have already fitted it, we cant replace, send a new piece out or partial refund you I do apologise.

We’d have needed to be notified within 24 hours of your delivery. At that point we’d have been able to do one of these options.

Please accept our apologies, the best way to try and remove it would be to try and get as much heat on it as possible which relaxes the grass strands and then brush it all with a stiff brush, this is always advised by all manufacturers and artificial grass fitters.

This is the conversation so far:

    Thanks for your reply.

I am disappointed with the item and unfortunately it wasn't until this week that the contractor was able to fit the grass so it's been left in the roll. Surely you can't expect people to unroll 20 square meters of grass within 24 hours of having it!! That's quite poor customer service.

The contractor that fitted the grass told me to try the heat and brush but that hasn't made any difference to the line in the grass.

I feel like I should be compensated in some way either by yourselves or the supplier!!

    Thanks

    Gareth
    Hello,
We completely understand your frustration, but you ordered it a month and a half ago as well, so its not even within the 30 day returns policy either even if it was at your cost.

Our delivery and terms and conditions state quite clearly all the information you need to know and about our policy etc.

Please accept our apologies about this.

    Kind regards
    Thanks for the reply,

So due to a manufacturer's fault I have to suck it up and have an item that is faulty. I'm not happy about this.

I will go to trading standards and see where I stand on this.

Irrelevant of it being outside the return date the item you have sold me is faulty. So either you or the manufacturer should compensate or replace.

    Thanks

    Gareth

Is the supplier of the grass UK based - some of the English in the replies you have received is clumsy - made me wonder if it came from China?

With such an obvious fault why did it get laid in the first place? The contractor should have advised you so you could do something about it, laying it just made life difficult for you.

He didn't see it as an issue.. My standards are obviously different to his.. I bought the exact width and length so there were no joins but the line up the grass makes it actually look like a join anyway!!
