    Thanks everyone :D

Sleepy today, getting used to all of the new noises in a new house is making me wake up a few times but I'm sure I'll soon settle. It might even be the lack of noise as I left quite a loud house full of people and I've been by myself until late when OH gets in two nights running.

We are currently waiting on internet, the telephone line was disconnected prior to us moving in, so waiting for that to all be done on Friday. Also messed up Now TV by making too many "device changes" in one month, i.e. removing two from my old house, and I had logged into my brothers playstation when I visited my dad so I could watch something, so it told me I couldn't log in to our new TV until the 1st of December... however I spoke to them and said I hadn't been quite clear on the whole managing devices in one month thing, and wouldn't have TV until I could add one a new one, so they cleared it for me so I can set up the TV when I get home tonight :)

We also had no hot water from the shower this morning but hot water from the taps, so will take a look at things when I get home tonight. I get up at 6 to leave for 7 so I have no time to do investigating in the mornings. I had pressed the boost for OH hoping he would get a hot shower but no such luck. I will face-time my brother if I can't see any obvious issues :rotfl: I am hoping I can sort it though as with no shower this morning all I want to do when I get in, is have a shower as I feel grotty! Although if the taps are still giving hot water I could always just have a bath.

I'm looking forward to getting the internet at home, as I have lots more free time now to do surveys and user tests so could make more money, I just need the internet connection first :rotfl:

Stopping at Sainsburys on the way home tonight, which requires a slight detour on the drive home but I am trying to push myself to not be in such a rut with driving as it makes me anxious when I do anything that isn't normal routine :rotfl: it's literally come off the road out of the town I work in, and come back out onto the same road after so no big deal. I also have my induction at the new gym tomorrow, so I've already been examining the way there and back over and over even though it's a 6 minute drive :rotfl:
  • Happy Friday :hello:

I'm hoping when I get home tonight we have internet at long last!
I'm glad it's the end of the week, for the first time last night since we moved I sat in horrendous traffic from a car accident (happens all the time on this road, north and south) which was bad enough, but I had to pull out from behind two cars that had clearly had a collision slowing down for the standstill traffic, and then just as we started moving again everyone was slowing to look at the cars from the accident  I don't know what goes through other people's minds, but when I've been sat in traffic for ages I only have tunnel vision for getting home!

So after finally getting home, we had OH's kids over for the first time which was a bit stressful getting them to go to sleep in a new house, but it should be more relaxed tonight as no one has school or work in the morning :)

I realised this morning, all of my underwear is now too tight :rotfl: :rotfl: so I really need to putting some effort in to starting to exercise again. Fingers crossed this will be helped by being allowed to run from next week, but I will just see how that goes as my foot never seems to recover for very long.

Pampering myself while I have the house to myself for most of both days this weekend, will be sorting out the roots on my hair at last, home pedicure, tint eyebrows, etc etc. I need some TLC after a crazy week since we moved in!
  • What a grown up weekend I have had - I spent Saturday making sure all of the washing was done and waiting for the internet to be connected, and tried to sort the guarantee for our washing machine and tv but they need to be done over the phone so OH can do that whilst he has holiday days this week.

Yesterday was then spent ironing all of the things in the ironing basket, and pulled out all of OH's shirts from the wardrobe and did those too so that all of his work shirts (over 20 I think) are good to wear, and then I went and purchased some oven cleaner and vinegar and cleaned OH's oven at the old flat and got rid of all of the built up brown limescale in his toilet, and cleaned the bathroom. Definite girlfriend brownie points there
I was knackered by the end as I couldn't leave the oven stuff overnight or for four hours like the packet says, so I left it for a few hours and then went to town with some elbow grease on the oven and trays instead. It's not perfect (I don't think it will be without a professional doing it) but the oven is shiny inside with only a few baked on bits that didn't come off with the rest, the racks and shelves are shiny, and you can see outside of the glass again. It was grim. I did learn how to dismantle the oven door to get the glass out though, and it's an incentive to keep on top of our current oven as I don't fancy doing that again :rotfl:

OH just needs to go and paint and touch up a few bits then we need to scrub, dust, hoover etc for a last tidy up then it should be in good enough condition for when he hands back the keys on Friday :)

Can't remember if I said, but the gym induction was naff. The gym is in a sports centre shared by local clubs and the car park is shared by all of the guys who use the massive AstroTurf next door, and it looks like it would only need about 10 people in the gym for it to be crowded. A definite step down from the facilities I'm used to, for more money than I used to pay! I emailed asking if they could transfer me to a different site that's about 10 minutes down the road with much better facilities, funnily enough they are yet to respond :rotfl:

    To do list for tonight:
    - tint eyebrows
    - do a workout at home
    - then relax!
  • Not much to report at the moment, just ticking along waiting for payday.

Going to go the pharmacy today, I have a pain in my right arm that won't budge and if it was just a bit of pain I wouldn't mind but it feels like a mix of how weak your arm feels after it's gone dead, and that someone is squeezing it and it kept me awake most of last night so I feel positively rubbish today :( OH says maybe some flu-like symptoms as I was awake in the night so cold and shaking that I needed him to wrap round me to keep me warm and generally feeling really run down

Two more DD's to come out before payday, one of the NOW TV passes (half price currently) and Spotify (now half price also). That left me around £10 to last me until Friday.

However, the buttons to unlock my car weren't working this morning but had worked up until then, so I am going to buy a new battery and replace it. Upon looking for videos for how to replace it, I also found one to replace the cover with buttons for a few quid, and mine have been worn so that you can see the circuit board since I got the key so I have also ordered that to try and replace the casing too. All for less than £10 :)

Watched quite a few videos and I am confident that as I am just moving the circuit etc from one case to another, I'll be able to do it quite easily :)
  • It's amazing what you learn to do for yourself when trying not to spend any money!
  • Well, trying to sort the keys out was a waste of time, as I wrote off my car this morning.

I'm at fault no disputing that everyone went from 50-60 to slamming on their brakes and I just couldn't do it quickly enough.

The good news is, that everyone is okay and that my insurance is covering the cost of recovery etc

The bad news is that I now don't have the car, or money for a new car, and I now live 18 miles way from work so will be paying to use the train until such point that I can get a new car.

It was a very sobering moment stood on the side of the road telling a police officer I didn't have £150 to pay upfront for the recovery of my car, or even £150 at all. I never want to be in that position again.

The only slight upside is that a monthly train ticket is not much more expensive than I had budgeted for fuel each month, so it's manageable. I just hate the fact that I don't have a car now.

    Oh my word, SSDD23!

I'm glad you are ok, but you are probably still feeling very shocked by the whole thing - make sure you take the time to have yourself checked over by your GP and take some time to make sure you are looking after yourself.

It may seem upsetting not to have a car for now, but at least you are still here.
  • Thank you adg, I'm at work trying to keep busy and not replay it in my head to be honest.

Yes it could have been much worse and for that I am grateful that all I've lost is my cheap runaround car :)
