I always do say I like a challenge0 -
I can't wait for this week to be over, truly.
Just badgered OH as to why he's been really distant the last couple of days when I have needed him to be the opposite as I've been quite upset, and he's just admitted he's mad at me for crashing my car. Grateful that I am okay, but mad at me nonetheless.
I really don't know how I feel about that, I'm mad enough at myself as I'm the one now without a car and having to trek to the train station in the mornings... I expected a bit of comfort and reassurance and what I have is OH mad at me0 -
Oh no, that's not very supportive!
Perhaps he's just annoyed that he can't fix the situation for you?
My OH can be like that, such a fixer!
Sometimes I just want a hug and for someone to tell me it will all be OK, but all he wants to do is come up with a solution (which can make me feel worse). And he gets frustrated when it's outside his control and there's nothing he can do. I'm sure he's not really mad at you - just the situation. xx0 -
That's possible - he was trying to work out how much money he could put in with me for a new car but I told him I didn't want to borrow anything, and that it was my problem to fix, so that would suggest he prefers trying to fix things than comforting lol
Didn't think of it like thatx

Poor you. I was the car in front when someone didn't stop in time this week. The stress has been unreal. Constant calls with the insurance and pain from the impact. Can't even think straight. So sorry you're having it too. Really not ideal. I'm booked in with the chiropractor. Maybe you should do the same? Make sure you don't get further away from your running goals.
I'm also not getting much sympathy and I really thought it was an obvious thing people would sympathise with. Also you're the only one suffering! Why should he be cross?
Are you going to be ok paying the excess? Do you have a plan for it?

I think my insurance company said that it would just balance out with the value of the car as it is going to be written off - he said if the excess was less than the value of the car, I could claim for some money from the car's value but that if the excess was higher then I wouldn't have to pay anything extra, I just wouldn't have anything to claim from the value of the car. That's how I understood it and got him to say several times it's not going to cost me anything extra from now (other than a higher premium I imagine) so fingers crossed it will all be ok. My only issue will be if I can't get a new car in time for them and they say I have to cancel the insurance policy, the money I'd have to pay to settle the policy would be hard to find.
OH has convinced me to let him help fund the new car, and just continue paying the amount I pay him for money I owe at the moment anyway at the same amount each month so that our finances don't take a dive. He is getting money back from his deposit on the flat, a refund from his energy supplier and some other money coming in so he can afford to put a little towards a car. He will also have his payout from the sale of his old house with ex in early 2019 hopefully so he has told me he would rather I owed him money than anyone who would charge interest, or that the payments would leave me skint each month.
Got letters from the insurance company to go through today and various bits and pieces to send off, and try to hunt down a new car! It'll have to be the same car effectively to not give my insurance company any reason to say they won't cover or adjust my premium anymore than necessary, so it's hard trying to get something the same size engine etc!0 -
On the plus side, £232 of debt repayments gone out today, there won't be any overpayments this month as it will go to car money/repaying OH.
£232 doesn't factor in interest, so I will update my total later in the month when interest has been added on0 -
I'm the same as you. "Could you please repeat that?" "So just to confirm, you're saying I don't need to pay anything. That's right, right?" That all sounds good. Well done you.
I think you've made the right choice letting OH help you with the car. I don't enjoy car shopping at all but my oh does so maybe take advantage of that? XxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

We are going to look at a car on Saturday provided it is still for sale.
I am looking forward to going together, I need to feel comfortable in the car but as long as it starts and drives okay I don't really care about much else for now. It has a marginally bigger engine than my old car, and 5 doors and a few different bits as it's a different trim to my old car.
Insurance company called today and they have valued my car at £100-£200 over what my excess will be (I thought it was one amount, which is written in my insurance policy, but a letter I received gave an excess amount £150 higher so will question this). This is great but I need to just think about if claiming is the best thing to do. It will obviously give me a higher premium next year, but I suspect it will rise due to the at fault accident anyway, and it will at least make me less out of pocket with having to replace the car? Not really sure what the best course of action is so I am just waiting for the call in the next few days to discuss the next steps.0 -
Another £45 DD gone out today, just one more CC DD to go out then that is all my contractual payments for the month.
I have decided to take out the figures from my sig as it depresses me a little looking at them, I will just update as and when I hit any milestones or clear an entire debt :rotfl: each to their own!
£100 in the pot for my new car, and in the next week or so should receive a £72 refund cheque from Park, and a £50 cheque from Populus Live so will be at £220 ish fairly quicklychances are we will buy the car this weekend if it is still there, so I will just give OH back the money as and when it comes through from various places
