Nearly the end of the working week!
Confirmation of booking to view the car tomorrow, phoned my insurance company today to discuss what happens if I bought the car and they have a quote locked in so that I just need to phone them and confirm tomorrow if I decide to purchase itthe premium has (unsurprisingly) gone up, but it is still a little lower than when I first took out the insurance policy so for that I am grateful.
I have the house to myself tonight for the first time in ages (until OH gets home at least) so I am looking forward to just chilling out and relaxing, there are things in the house that need to be done but they can wait until tomorrow night so no rush there.
Really craving a pizza tonight and know we have none in the freezer, so hoping my self-restraint holds out :rotfl:
I am not looking forward to the train journey home and the 20 minute walk, but fingers crossed if the car is okay tomorrow it will be the last time I will have had to do it, and I think I have (just) spent less in train fare this week than I would have in petrol, so things haven't worked out too badly. I should even be able to give OH some money from my wages as well as the £100 I have set aside already, for the car but we will see. I don't want to leave myself skint.
On the upside, we are under budget with our first two food shops this month so that's good, good to know I can get everything him and the kids eat/drink (cans of pop, crisps, sweets, chocolate, all the junk!) and all the things I want to eat (fruit, vegetables, proper meat for proper meals) and still come into the budget I had hoped we could stick too. Luckily we've generally been getting £3/£4 off coupons or £12 off £50 spend coupons so I've been able to stock up on bits, or get more expensive bits like washing machine/dishwasher pods and not go over budget
Hope everyone has a lovely start to the weekend xx0 -
Jesus SSDD23! Am so glad you're OK... What a mess. You've handled everything really well
Hope the car is a go this weekend and your train journeys are over
Makes sense that OH help out with the car a wee bit, am glad he is doing so. Would not have been impressed with my OH being "mad" at me!! I do think it was probably more frustration at not being able to help/ fix more.
Don't worry about your debt figures... As long as it's going down that's all that matters! Slow and steady and we'll get there one dayTotal Debt : ?? / ??0 -
I have a car again now
and I have done the journey to work again this morning with not much nerves and no issues so that's good. It probably helped that I had to drive the car 20 miles home on Saturday, and got myself out running errands in it yesterday
feels good to be mobile again!
Bit of a spendy weekend, OH and I have both woken up for a few days feeling poorly and with headaches and I haven't really gotten better since I started feeling poorly before we moved, and we both at the same time mentioned about carbon monoxide alarms and whether we had them. Turned out there were none, so we bought some and thankfully all is fine, but good to know we have them now
We took OH's kids to watch Robin Hood last night, it was an okay film I don't think I'd watch it again though. Other than that the weekend was spent being the cleaning fairy, the washing fairy and the ironing fairy :rotfl:
Happy Monday everyone! Xx
ps lovely to 'see' you lonelyrat xx0 -

Thank you beanielou
just trying to get the stereo to work on it! I'll get there in the end.
Need to go into town on my lunch today to pick up some Christmas Decs that I ordered at the end of last month - it's crazy how quickly tinsel sells out in shops! I also need to pick up some de-icer and a car scraper after sitting in my car for 10 minutes this morning whilst it defrosted, and I could do with grabbing some Christmas cards today too, just the thought of going in a card shop this close to Christmas stresses me out :rotfl:
This week I've had a £50 cheque from Populus Live, my £70 cheque for cancelling my Christmas Saver and my £100 cheque from my insurance company for settlement of my car. So this week I will have been able to repay OH £320 including the £100 I had set aside, so that's basically half of the money paid in the first weekhe knows the rest will be as and when, but I'm hoping it'll be sorted by the end of January if I can make some money!

Nearly the weekend everyone!
We have our first inspection on Monday so my weekend will be mostly cleaning the house, which feels fairly pointless as the kids will be staying on Sunday so we will be running round picking up after them anyway on Monday morning :rotfl:
Oh, and hopefully finally sorting my car stereo at last. Changed two fuses under the bonnet, still no power to the stereo. Googled, there's another fuse in the back of the stereo, fair enough. Ordered some radio removal keys and by yesterday they still hadn't arrived so OH got some from Halfords. Just got around to pulling out the stereo and the fuses I have are the right amp but the wrong SIZE  so it will be another trip to Halfords tomorrow, which is actually not too bad as we were going over that way anyway.
Anyway, the fuse is definitely blown so that gives me some comfort that all I need to do is change it with the correct size one tomorrow, and I should have the radio/CD player working. And then more than likely pay for the radio code that I don't have any paperwork for, but thankfully we should still have spent less than the £50 we saved for it having no power when I test drove it.
I think I should get paid a week from today, I can't believe it's so close to Christmas!0 -
Good news on the shiny new car and on potentially sorting the stereo! Fab that you've managed to pay back OH so much already
I can't believe it's almost Christmas either... I swear it was January a minute ago!Total Debt : ?? / ??0
