Ascroft poll shows that under 35 to 45 year olds voted remain and you can just as easily argue that people in their late teens early 2Os do not have enough experience as older people voted out of nostalgia.

The point I was making is many people especially those in stonge remain voting area are trying to make excuses as to why leave won as they can't or don't want to believe how strongly a very large number of people in country disagree with them. I wasn't surprised leave won I fully expected it from the start and couldn't understand why there was so much support in Parliament for referendum.

Again with respect, I really don't care about that, what I care about is ensuring that no one thinks (as you implied) that I was calling leave voters racists. I wasn't!

EDIT: I voted remain (as you did), I didn't like the result, but I have accepted it and moved on, I don't feel the need to insult leave voters, it all water under the bridge to me.

I agree that some voted Brexit as a protest vote. That protest was because they were being ignored.
One of the biggest decisions taken by Britain swung by those who were being ignored.
Yet they continue to be ignored.
Perhaps that shows just how out of touch and arrogant the majority of our politicians are.

So the privileged Daily Telegraph hack complains about the new liberal elite. What nonsense. Janet Daley has no idea about ordinary people, she supports the upper class elite who are oppressing them! That's why she writes for the Telegraph.

Completely missing the point. The sneering liberals fail to understand why there is an increase in so-called populism but they only have to look in the mirror to find the reason. The liberal elite are the true oppressors. They make no attempt to understand the causes of populism but merely respond by saying that those who do not agree with them need to be re-educated. Dismissing what Daley has to say because she writes for a newspaper that you don't agree with is typical of liberal thinking or lack of it.

Liberals seem to be disappointed that the little people have the same vote as they do and when the little people eventually turn on them as they have begun to do, it will be too late for them to do anything about it.

No I didn't think you think that all leave voters are racists but as I said to many people are looking for reasons why leave won and ignoring the obvious one.

    What's the obvious one?

The most common theme when it comes to why people voted Leave, by a long margin, was "immigration".

On the contrary she seems to have a good handle on the anti establishment phenomenon currently gripping western democracies.
Do you deny the educated liberal middle class loathing for the ‘uneducated’ socially conservative white working class?

Yes Tromking I do. In no way reading the Labour Party's manifesto at the last election could you say it represented the interests of an elite of any sort. Corbyn does not hate the socially conservative white working class. Some of them hate him because they see him as a terrorist sympathiser etc. I will also ask what does 'socially conservative' mean exactly. I mean one persons patriot is another persons jingoist. At the end of the day its about fairness and equality of opportunity. No one will convince me that those principles are best served by Mogg, Johnson, Farage etc. They are the true elite. They have power, a voice in the media and represent the powerful voices in banking, industry etc. As an MP Corbyn attended and spoke at our union meetings and advocated on behalf of us for better working conditions etc. In contrast Mogg wants the income of the worker to depend on the vagaries of the market.
Who in the mainstream press, (representing the interests of the elite of course) gives Corbyn a voice? He is denigrated and smeared day after day by the editorial decisions of men such as Paul Dacre and the Barclay bothers. People like Janet Daley are their ciphers! In no way is Corbyn part of the liberal elite!

Who exactly do you mean by this assertion of a liberal elite? To me it seems too many people are getting their politics from alt right web sites. Look at this Govmt, look at the profile of the tory party. Whose interests do they represent. Why do the privately owned Telegraph, Mail etc support them. Why does Boris Johnson have a column in the Telegraph. That's where the true elite is!

I agree, although that doesn't necessarily equate to racism (and I am not implying that you are saying that it is), for example parents could be concerned about school places and/or quality of teaching for their children, unemployed voters might want more opportunity for work (I know that might be a doubled edged sword with some firms relocating etc.). Others might be concerned about the drain on the NHS (again a doubled edged sword). That's just off the top of my head, there are probably a few other examples too. Personally, I agree with freedom of movement, but I accept that others might feel differently about it.

sneering liberals ... The liberal elite ...liberal thinking...Liberals

Remarkable how liberal, elite and educated have now become some kind of insult.

    - Liberalism : a political and moral philosophy based on liberty and equality
    - Elite : a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.
    - Educated : having been educated

So yes, call me an educated elitist liberal, I'll wear that badge with pride. :)
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

You know you can identify as that but not necessarily be any of those things? :)
