Brexit the economy and house prices part 6

I believe there were exit polls to try to establish the demographics of the vote. Older people were biased towards Leave, the provinces were disposed towards Leave, the young and the metropolitans towards Remain.
Absolutely no surprises there then.
IMO the young & metropolitans were more prone to groupthink. So are many company board members, shortly before the organisation tanks.0 -

There is no mention of a no deal being better than a bad dealThere will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
I believe a deal WILL be signed. It may be last minute (even more uncertainty) but some sort of deal will get signed so that outstanding items can be sorted during the transition period.
However the extreme Tory Brexiters want to run down the clock as I think they think a no deal is better than any deal. In fact many un elected Brexiters think the same.
Posters on this and previous threads have said exactly that. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
If there is a no deal some of the “disasters” will not happen.
There are two that come to mind.
1) There will not be a huge line of lorries waiting on motorways on both sides of the channel as the trucks will not leave their depots.
2) Cars will still be made (somewhere) but because the manufacturers have had years to prepare the contingency plans are almost all in place, some of which will involve mothballing plants.
However there will be plenty of smaller and more personal problems that will unfold over time, but that is Brexit for you. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
News reported in the Mail this weekend that the government is planning to install a line of portable toilets stretching some 13 miles along the Motorway to Dover in the event of a no-deal Brexit... so the tens of thousands of drivers stuck for days in the gridlock don't have to poo all over the countryside.
What a mess...“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
-- President John F. Kennedy”0 -
Or lack of mess, in this instance. I'm glad we're getting the important stuff sorted.0

And this is in the paper that thinks brexit is the best thing that has ever happened...
I’m surprised they didn’t spin it as “brexit boost for Britain’s toilet manufacturers”.0 -

see this is a bit contradictory to the other arguement
We have been told to stockpile meds, food, water whatever because our lack of trade means that this stuff wont be available, our trade with Europe is going to cease and the UK to become a post apocalyptic wasteland, something like in the mad max movies
...but now the miles of truck drivers leaving the country are going to poo all over the country side
Given the first scenario is what we have been told for the last 18 months, where are these truck drivers going?0 -

a) the majority of people in full-time or part-time employment voted Remain.
b) most of those not working voted to leave
If you think the latter needs to be split up in several categories, you'll have to take it up with Lord Ashcroft Polls :

People like to blame their problems on outside forces. For reasons I find hard to fathom, some of the least well off people in (predominantly) England, repeatedly vote Tory and read the right wing press. A political party that was established to represent the landed gentry and a media propaganda arm that hates the working class.
One could blame the Tories, their years of austerity aimed squarely at the least well off, and their hateful, hate-filled newspapers for your problems. Or one can blame foreigners and the EU, vote for privileged right wing billionaires, and carry on disappearing up ones own backside.0
