Brexit the economy and house prices part 6

Don’t disagree as usual, I just don’t think Brexit will change anything. I think it will make things worse because as we chase lost growth, all the real issues will be neglected. I’m quite anti-establishment so it’s not that I don’t want to give the establishment a kicking. Just seems to me those behind the leave vote are very much the establishment – and the worst elements of it! They want out of the EU so they can have a more extreme version of the same!0

Replaying all the arguments for and against Britain’s membership of the EU might be fun for some people but we should and are past that.
We are where we are.
Britain has a choice.
Leave with the deal and move on with good will to negotiate a new trade deal with the EU27
Or
Leave without a deal causing massive disruption to Britain and its close neighbours and THEN try and negotiate a trade deal with a VERY damaged and upset EU27
You Brexiters only have to make your mind up. You found it pretty easy to do so in the referendum in June 2016.
What’s the matter, got cold feet? There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
I think we are at a crossroads as to our future. I can see the competitors in our world changing rapidly, maybe in just a decade or two. I'm not fixed on a single direction; I just think we need to commit to a longer term plan.
The Western world has totally underestimated the impact that China would have on world affairs. In not even two decades is now influencing many aspects of our daily lives. With a domestic agenda to implement. Days of easy money in the West may well be over.0 -

It's what I've been saying since before the referendum. We're on a downward trajectory, everything has been getting slowly worse for years. It's like we're in quick sand.
We've voted that instead of staying still and waiting to be rescued, we're going to flail our arms and legs around.
All the time we were in the EU we could have relied on being bailed out if the other countries were doing better than us.
Now they'll just look on from their walled garden, while the UK politicians who conned us into voting for brexit will now be unchallenged from abusing us again.
I'm paraphrasing Stewart Lee "Everyone hated Thatcher in the 80's, so it's surprising that she kept getting re-elected". Don't expect democracy to save you from the worst of UK politics when it returns.0 -

That's personal preference for overpriced property and debt, than saving/investing in wealth generating assets. No one cares about the UK within the EU. Politicians are only accountable to there own electorate. When push comes to shove (i.e. Italy) me comes first before we. Expect more of the same if difficult times do indeed arrive.0 -

No, it's due to the deluded idea that we can sit on our asses being lazy and still maintain the illusion of the hay days of British Empire.Thrugelmir wrote: »No one cares about the UK within the EU
{Edited by Forum Team}. The UK is doing ok, what do you expect they'll come and hold your hand while you cry about those scary people with different coloured faces appearing in your home town? Get over yourself. Their priority is on other countries that are doing worse and that is where our priority should be too, if we want to maintain what we have for as long as possible.
If we were in trouble then they'd help us, but we're not. Being in the EU has managed to slow down the decline, which will accelerate once we leave & none of this "b.b.b.b.ut we can do trade deals with the rest of the world" is going to make any difference whatsoever.0 -
....
You're a snowflake pure and simple. Don't make me laugh. How is a Polish migrant worker someone of different colour?
By choosing to Leave, we are likely to encourage more people from the Asian continent, not less.
It sounds like you are the one with the prejudice.0 -

Another case of right wingers judging others by their own standards.
European unity is an ideal that is in fact very precious to many Europeans, who are enjoying living under the longest war free period of prosperity in Europe's history. Germans were heart broken about Brexit, and not because some obscure technocrat in Brussels told them to be.
There is an element of the British populous however that will never stop axe grinding over the long overdue collapse of its empire, or searching for someone to blame for its perceived lack of prestige.0 -

I don't think even you believe that.
The EU were not stopping us from accepting immigrants from Asia.
We're not stopping people coming from the EU.
We're cutting the total number of immigrants.
More people came from outside of the EU than inside the EU.
We've cut off our nose to spite our face, the UK is no longer attractive even to it's own citizens.
You might get some crazy rich asians move to london post brexit when we become the promised tax haven. Which will make the leavers in the outer reaches of the country happy that the foreigners will be kept in that there london.Don't make me laugh. How is a Polish migrant worker someone of different colour?
I didn't say you were only prejudiced against people of a different colour, I was talking about differences in people you could see
You're still a snowflake for being upset that the EU don't care about the UK. Like the first spoiled child who is upset when another baby comes along that needs looking after.
I thought we were a strong nation, not that 52% of the population were snowflakes. But I have to be wrong about something I suppose.
If you really[/b/] voted to leave the EU as a protest against the supposed discrimination against people from outside of the EU then you've gone further down in my estimation.0 -

You mean like they assisted Greece with all their problems.... and are falling over themselves right now to help Italy with their financial difficulties. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0
