At least we now know how many Conservative MPs are remainers.0

172-40...........
Yep. Ignored it.
They didn't force him to resign, if the government lost a confidence vote they would be forced to resign.
All these votes are advisory, like the referendum. It doesn't have to be enacted. It's down to how much influence you have when things don't go your way. The parliamentary labour party doesn't have much influence over corbyn.
The executive are only in power because the majority of MPs have confidence in them, The voters in the UK don't select a government, it's the MPs that we elect that do that. So if they don't have confidence then they have to leave.
The ERG has lost a lot of it's influence by calling this vote now, before her deal was put to the vote.0 -
Worst prime minister ever0

The Tory party actually has a mechanism for dealing with situations like this. Brexit doesn't.
Sure it does https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referendums_in_the_United_Kingdom
"National referendums can be permitted by an Act of Parliament and regulated through the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, but they are by tradition extremely rare due to the principle of parliamentary sovereignty meaning that they cannot be constitutionally binding on either the Government or Parliament, although they usually have a persuasive political effect."
"Legally, Parliament at any point in future could reverse legislation approved by referendum, because the concept of parliamentary sovereignty means no Parliament can prevent a future Parliament from amending or repealing legislation. However, reversing legislation approved by referendum would be unprecedented."
They could ignore the 2016 result, or hold another referendum & even ignore the result of that one.
Only cowards think we shouldn't have a second referendum. I don't understand why people allowed themselves to be scared into voting leave, or why they allowing themselves to be scared into not wanting another referendum when you consider how poorly the government are implementing it. Theresa May is delivering brexit in name only, the remainers demanding a second referendum is reverse psychology. They want you to oppose it.0 -

The only people wanting a second referendum are those who refuse to accept the result of the first one.
There is a very small chance of a second one, but if there is, it will be a joy to watch those who have been calling leavers thick, ignorant, xenophobic gammons for the past two and a half years trying to persuade these people to support them.0 -

No, those wanting it are wanting to gauge public opinion now the facts are out there.
I haven’t said anything of the sort against anyone who voted Leave, I have however stood my ground and not tolerated abuse and intimidation from certain quarters.
Rees-Mogg was shouting loudly about why May should resign. The only thing I have to say is that he lost, and needs to get over it💙💛 💔0 -

There's no point trying to persuade brexit extremists as they are beyond reason, a bit like flat earthers or conspiracy theorists.
The ones that will need persuading are those poor souls who swallowed the lies peddled by Leave back in 2016. Stuff like Turkey is about to join the EU, brexit will give 350m to the NHS, brexit will sort the potholes and save the great british curry and all that nonsense.
But I agree that the chance of a 2nd ref is small.0 -
